Just tested without The Great Steppe, and I no longer get crashes when zooming out of the map. So I guess there's some sort of compatibility issue, pretty weird.

I already have my buffer size set to 50; I actually have a strong suspicion that ProMods Great Steppe is the culprit, which sounds weird, but I think maybe it's incompatible with ProMods itself?
I'll check it out tomorrow, until then I don't want to say anything concrete. Thanks for the help!

Same here. I tried both updating an existing 2.40 ProMods profile and starting a brand new one, both times the game fails to load.

I know this topic is a bit old, but the crash happened again. Same error message and all. I DID set the buffer size to 20, and it didn't crash that time, but now it does it again. Help?

Okay, I tested the thing and I figured out what causes the crash: RoExtended. I go and ask for help on their forum.
