gravel road finally tarmac?
Coming out of Seyofjordur and heading down towards Hofn, there used to be a gravel road in Iceland, you went down a road crossed a bridge then went up a section of gravel which became asphalt again near the top as you rounded a bend to continue on towards the junction for where you went left on road...

it wouldnt just be Calais, but all EU ports that link with UK, also perhaps direct routes to France from Ireland too.
