Set 4 of the 6th installment of this tour - travelling from Innsbruck to Vaduz in Leichtenstein and from there to Verona in Italy.

Image

Winding our way through the foothils of some Alp or other.

Image

We're not going to make Vaduz by nightfall, it seems...

Image

Image

One doesn't see many night shots posted - well, there isn't a lot to see, is there really?
Still, we're in the depths of darkest winter now, so why not post a couple...

Image

Close to or in Leichtenstein...

Image

Vaduz by night.

Image

The next day, it was snowing. Ventured up the hill to check out Vaduz Castle... if that's what this is...

Image

Leaving the lorry park where we spent the night in Vaduz city centre.

Image

The route from Vaduz back to Innsbruck goes through this cool tunnel... but how did that snow get there??

Image

It is actually not only a perplexingly snow-floored tunnel, but also a weather machine. Look what it did!

Image

Image

There's that church we last saw in the dark.

Image

Skimming the edge of Innsbruck.

Image

Heading south towards Italy now.

Image

Elevated highways...

Image

Image

Image

Italy, at last!

Image

Lake La Garda.

Image

Cutting through the countryside...

Image

Verona. This part of Italy didn't get any love from SCS when they uprgraded Milan...

Image

Image

A gloomy place for a gloomy night...

That's all for now...

Today here's a trip through northern Italy from Verona to Trieste before heading back north towards Austria again.

Image

Why do I get the feeling I've been shrunk to 5cm high and imprisoned in a freezer?

Image

Poplars in the snow.

Image

Insulated from the road.

Image

We've reached Venice. Fast, double-decker trains. Nice!

Image

The part of Venice you don't see on calendars and postcards. Time to move on.

Image

Wide roads carry us north-east.

Image

Piave River? Maybe.

Image

Entering Trieste. A new ProMods city added just before Bella Italia came out, it uses assets other than those in the new DLC but is still a very nice place. Let's take a look around.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Think I'll just drop off the trailer here.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Having seen the historic centre and the port, it's time to seek out a new job to take us back to Austria and our last destination, Klagenfurt.

Image

Some cool, dingy shack like buildings near the Vestas pickup point.

Image

Got the turbine blade.

Image

How quaint! Still that Xmas vibe.

Image

Getting out of town... one more snowy, mountainous set to go.

Cheers

Thank you! If you mean the trailer with the turbine blade, I think it is one of Jazzycat's. To be honest, probably one of his earlier efforts, as it doesn't seem to be as nicely detailed as his work often seems to me. Still, it's a turbine blade... :D

To whoever solved the "invasion" of my thread (I can't delete this post so I guess the "invader" couldn't either and it must have been a moderator):

THANK YOU!! :D :) :o ;) :P

Back again with the 6th and last snowy set from (mainly) Austria and Italy...

Image

Having left the very nice city of Trieste behind us we are heading north towards the Austrian border.

Image

Image

Brrrrooooo!!

Image

Tunnel time!

Image

Back in Austria now, I think. This is probably the Wörthersee.

Image

Image

Image

Heading for our destination - Klagenfurt.

Image

Image

Here we are, at last.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Nice clouds there... I wonder how they look over the Wörthersee.

Image

Pretty awesome too...

Image

Dusk has arrived... so time for a quick hop back to Klagenfurt to take in the end of the day, and this part of the tour.

Image

Anyone want a turbine blade? Only 12000 Euros.

Image

Image

Image

Bloody hell - no one wanted it. Another cancelled job (seeing as I really didn't want to go to Gdynia or Edinburgh or Suweto or wherever they actually wanted the blade).

The fee cleaned me right out. Anyone got a couple of Euro to spare? I just need it for the bus fare home...

Cheers

Okey-dokey.... we've left beautiful snowy mountainous Austria behind us (along with N Italy and the Czech Republic/Bratislava part of the original map) and our quest to see everything from SCS's original offering is now taking us to the Midlands, Wales and the North of England. Yep, part 7 of this tour is returning to one of people's least favourite parts of the map.

The supposed time is mid-to-late February... Spring is in the air, but for the most part really only in the air as we head towards the North.

Image

The weather was lovely in Swansea when we kicked the tyres and lit the fyres. Great paint job from SCS!

Image

The blue skies didn't last long but even so, after all the monochrome snow-caked scenery of the last month or so Grimes's Mild Winter mod on a misty moisty morning still looks like a riot of colour. Heading north-west through Wales to Birmingham.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Image

Getting dark... you can really feel the difference in scale in the UK sometimes, it took longer than I expected to make this first trip.

Image

Gor blimey, dark already?

Image

Birmingham. Reeks of vanillin, and looks nothing like the real city, but we're pleased to see it. Damn. Crufts isn't till March.

Image

Next day we're wending our way through the Midlands and up to Grimsby.

Image

Image

I wonder why they called it Grim-sby?

Image

Lush, mate.

Image

Ooof... can my eyes handle this much dismal? It's Grim Up North, they say, and I have a feeling this stage of
my tour is going to prove "them" right.

Image

I don't feel mentally ready to venture further North just yet, so we head back Dahn Saath to Cambridge, where we were in the autumn.
Apparently it's been quite nice there for weeks.

Image

Careful! When my son was about 8 we went for a drive in the XF. He just loved the three windscreen wipers. Makes it look like a real monster, a powerhouse. When we changed to an old Mercedes Actros he was like "What IS this junk. It's pathetic. It's only got two wipers."

Image

Down town, da da da daa da da.

Image

Oh, Cambridge!

Image

Cambridge. Where the soft lads go to uni.

Cheers!
