Hey there, we're back in the USA with Dan, who today will be making a delivery from the omnipresent, omniscient, omnipotent and omnivorous Walmart from Reno in Nevada down through NE California to Sacramento.
Morning in Reno.
Donuts for breakfast? Why not?
A very bright colour scheme for the VNL day cab today.
Been to Walmart, got the goods.
Massive concrete bridges on the way out of town.
Heading south west.
Typical scenery in this area: red 'mountains' and pine trees. Once again different. California is great - hope it gets an update sometime.
I could care less about Nevada and Arizona, but California really deserves a makeover.
Stopping at the weigh station. Oooh look at that, an attempt to 'get into character'. I 'could care less'. Nice. It's those little things that make the difference.
Nice little rustic dwellings nestled away amongst the scenery here near Truckee. We'll visit that place in the next thread.
It was a great drive down to Sacramento.
This is, I believe, the American River. Not a very original name, but at least it's not called after something that already exists in Europe.
Took a shot of the other half of the river too because that water is looking pretty darn nice.
Exit to Sacramento blocked. Lucky we didn't want that, eh? Oh, wait.
Well, it wasn't a big detour, and we weren't pressed for time, so no harm done.
I like this paint job but it is a bit over-bright. We'll go back to black but without the horses for the return journey.
Let's finish off with a few views of Sacramento. It's pretty nice.
If I eat many more of these I'm going to turn into one...
Bye for now!
Dan

Back again with a third set from - I guess - around 10 from northern California.
Today we travel back from Sacramento via some great scenery in Truckee to Reno.
Got an early start in Sacramento.
Back across the river in the early morning haze.
Another glitchy trailer. Never encountered these problems before. An outdated mod perhaps...
Heading back to Truckee sporting bizarre geometric pastel shades...
The sun rose, glorious and warming.
Enjoying the mountain views.
Arriving in Truckee, we were not impressed. Seemed like a very unremarkable place. Got a Ray's though. Feeling peckish.
Just a few jobsites.
And containers...
This cool loco saved things a bit though.
Then I noticed a loop of road with no jobsites, so headed off with my camera to check it out - and found some nice clusters of backwoods housing around a lake, very nice!
Really nice architecture, and I don't remember seeing it in too many other places in ATS. Of course, I haven't nearly been everywhere yet.
Well, picked up this digger from Truckee and headed back to Reno - for the last time.
Not sure why I keep going for black with the VNL. Maybe it's because I just don't like its looks somehow.
Nearing Reno the landscape whitens. Back to dustiness once more.
A smart street in Reno.
Time to make that delivery. Next time we'll update to the long-distance cab, I think.
Cheers, Dan

Today here are some shots from a trip from Reno just inside Nevada across N California to Eureka on the coast.
Heading out of Reno for the last time.
Heading West.
As we move away from Nevada, the land gets greener.
The mountains here are still 2016 vintage. Coloued greenish instead of reddish. Better than nothing. They look OK.
Approaching Redding. We're not going to stop there today.
Redding on the port bow.
Still passing Redding.
Outskirts of Redding.
Stopped for a break.
The Road Calleth!
Eureka by sundown or bust.
Near Eureka.
That's not the sea?!
Here we are. We'll check out Eureka in more detail when we take the coastal route.
Have to say I was a bit disappointed not to see the sea here.
Heading out to the delivery point. Wasn't any sea there either. Was a great drive
getting here though, so no complaints.
Cheers!

It's heavy cargo time! Taking a de-wheeled, de-tippered Mutt from Eureka to Redding, with some nice views of that fine city.
Yep, it's the event of the year in Eureka. Everyone's there! Yes it is I, Dan 7th avatar of Elvis, truckin' this good earth.
Tie it on tight!
That's Mutt, I'm Jeff.
The extended chassis getting a bit of air here over this steep bridge.
More great rural architecture.
Causeway base coated with water-repelling gel.
Arrival in Redding.
That is a looooong vehicle...
Okay, let's get this mutt to its kennel and go tour the town.
Where the well-heeled residents live.
A sad sight, Redding's monument to Ernő Rubik destroyed by vandals.
Ka-ching!
A featureless modern housing estate in all its bland glory!
Chopper's eye view.
Erm... yep.
The used car lot. Looks like they've got some good deals there.
Distinctly Japanese feel about the placing of this log dwelling.
The dusty busy city feeling - Redding's got it all. Bought a garage there.
Cheers for now!

Always a great read!
Why, thanks for saying so! I do try.... (smiles modestly)
Good to see you're still looking in now and again!
Added in 18 minutes 35 seconds:
Today we're heading north for some of the nicest parts of California. In fact that's kind of 'cheating' as the nicest bits wouldn't actually
be there if it weren't for the Oregon expansion, but anyone who's still playing these trucking games after 8+ years probably has Oregon anyway, so whatever. And we'll make a second foray into Oregon itself, without showing too much again, saving that till another time. Hopefully that time will eventually come...
Leaving Redding - sadly without seeing the Otis plant, where they make elevators - with yet another black paintjob.
View from a bridge...
Heading north towards Hornbrook.
Fuji? No, Mt Shasta, I think.
Very classy landscape round here.
There's a Mack with its soap-eating bulldog hood ornament.
Pulling into a weigh station near the Oregon border.
Even school buses get weighed.
Medford, Oregon coming up.
Yep, Oregon looks just great.
Time to make that delivery. More N. California and S. Oregon goodness next time...
Until then, see ya
Dan
Today we'll be travelling through some very nice scenery, heading south from Medford, Oregon to Hornbrook in N. California, and then NE through N.C. back up into Klamath Falls in Oregon.
After spending the night on an eco-farm and milking a few goats, we were off on a very nice trip.
Picked up a cargo from Kraft Heinz. Wonder what those piggies were doing there.
Heading out of Medford. Hopefully we'll be back there one day in a year or so to take a proper look.
Back in N. California, in Hornbrook, which really is just a jobsite (maybe two?), a gas station and nothing else. What on earth was that heap of junk doing pulling that new trailer. Guess it's a licencing thing - can't show a licensed cab which has crashed.
Diggers to Mt Shasta. No, I jest but in this case they are going to Klamath Falls whether they like it or not.
Beautiful part of the map.
On the way back up towards Oregon, we passed through the town of Weed. Rather like Kunda in Estonia, I guess SCS put this in while emitting Beavis and Butthead-style guffaws. Weed, hur hur hur. Weed.
Hur hur.
Hur hur.... Weed.
Really nicely made scenery town, though.
Mt Shasta techno disco. I'm up for it! Yeah I'm a bit old, but I'll tell them I'm Raja Ram.
Near or in Oregon by now.
Klamath Falls coming up.
We've arrived in Klamath Falls, the town where spring and fall meet up and party.
Thanks for looking in!

OK, we're well into the second half of this tour of N. California (and a bit of Oregon) now. Today we head out of Klamath Falls, Oregon and back down into N. California, getting almost back to Redding.
Got a cargo in Klamath Falls.
What is that Cessna doing there?
Last moments of Oregon goodness for 12-18 months, I guess.
Back in California.
Canby turnoff.
Canby. We turned right, though.
A bit more arid for a while, before getting back into green forests.
The town of Burney.
We're packing a headache rack today because there's a logging operation on route. After dumping the cargo in Burney we set off to try and get ourselves a logging trailer. Getting tired of diggers.
I wonder if they've got some logs for us to haul... ooh, a cliffhanger.
That's it for today, until next time....

Today: from the logging area via Redding down south almost to Sacramento and then west to the Napa Valley.
Okay, cliffhanger over. No, there were no logging trailers available, just diggers. Right. Fine.
Okay, well, fair enough. At least I had the headache rack, just in case.
Niiice.
We've reached Redding, some millionaire's pad I guess.
We've got diggers to deliver nearby.
Very early start the next day with.... a digger of some kind. Actually, some kind of highway construction grader, maybe.
Heading south along the side road parallel to the Redding-Sacramento highway.
One grader delivered.
Moving further south past a nice flock of starlings.
Californian rural scenes abound.
Another old wreck.
Skipped the highway by Sacramento - we're in wine country now, near San Rafael.
Napa valley train.
Picked up a cargo of wine to carry to an exclusive retailer in Redding.
Close-up of that train.
Heading out of the Napa valley.
The weather's taken a turn for the worse.
A bit more rural-ness to finish off as we head back to Redding for the last time before hitting
San Rafael and the coastal road back up to Oregon.
See ya!
