A magnificent morning to you all as Henri arrives in Harwich for his very grand tour of the British Isles.

Image

Image

We're in the new SCS Renault Range T... on our first mission - to Felixstowe, just round the corner.

Image

Tenez la gauche, thanks for the tip!

Image

Felixstowe - Cheltenham - London - Croydon... all of these places have been updated by ProMods since we were last here - looking forward to seeing them!

Image

Image

Great signage!

Image

Image

Felixstowe reached.

Image

Image

Cargo delivered, took the rig for a very imaginative repaint.

Image

They call me 'Heavy' Henri because I take the heavy jobs when I can.

Image

Off we go for a short haul to Cheltenham.

Image

Image

The police are out in force today - three cars in one shot.

Image

Back in Cheltenham - home of radio.

Image

Already? It's only been 5 minutes.
No, you've been out here watching the trucks for half an hour. What on earth do you see in them?!

Image

Image

Image

Image

Cargo dropped off in Cheltenham, time for another.

Image

And another makeover.

Image

This thing needs to go to Croydon.

Image

Passing through the Blackwall tunnel, we catch a sight of the old Millenium Dome in the rear view mirror.

Image

Image

The London skyline rises in the distance as we close in on Croydon.

Image

That's it for today... next time London.

Thank you for your recordings.
I Will take a look at the new Renault. Maybe I like it, depending on how the cockpit is designed.

Here are some shots from some jobs I did around London before heading down south to Portsmouth.

Image

Let's take a ride, and run with the dogs tonight...

Image

...in suburbia...

Image

...you can't hide, run with the dogs tonight...

Image

...in Croydon.

Image

Or maybe in IKEEEAAA. It rhymes a bit better, got to admit.

Image

Great suburban scenery, ProMods have done a fantastic job of making a proper sprawling city.

Image

With the occasional park too.

Image

Delivery accomplished, we're keen for another.

Image

Oooh, another default livery. I didn't think there would be any out yet for the new Range T, but I was wrong.

Image

Heading north through west London.

Image

Image

Over the Thames.

Image

Image

All the sights nicely lined up. Could that be Marble Arch?

Image

Image

Buckingham Palace? Could well be. Full marks for trying anyway, the overall effect is good, and none of the scenery is really meant to be viewed up close on food, but glimpsed from a truck.

Image

Out of the centre and moving towards the drop-off point.

Image

Dropped off. Now what?

Image

Image

Image

Great sights in London!

Image

Big city feeling.

Image

Heading out of town.

Image

Got a job delivering cheese. Not my favourite kind of cargo. Have to deliver it to Jersey. Don't they have enough cheese down there, with all those cows? Apparently they do, but this is Different Cheese. Okay.

Image

On our way south, nearing Portsmouth where the ferry to Jersey awaits. You can see the sea in the distance.

Image

Portsmouth's dockyard is ablaze with colour. We'll leave Henri there for now. Au revoir!

Henri's British Isles tour is well under way now... better post another set in order to keep up.

Image

About to take the Jersey ferry from Portsmouth.

Image

Here we are in Jersey, with some cheese to deliver.

Image

Image

Jersey was pretty small, so that's all I've got from there. A nice little destination, though.

Image

Picked up some containers to take to Swansea there. Back in Portsmouth ready to experience some English and Welsh countryside.

Image

Heading north and west in the general direction of Swansea.

Image

Image

Image

Crossing the Severn Bridge to South Wales.

Image

Welsh countryside now.

Image

And a spectacular Welsh sunset!

Image

Swansea. Posted quite a lot of shots from there in my last thread, Heartland Journeys. So will stop at this one.

Image

The next day we headed out of Wales across the Midlands with a rather expensive cargo for Hull.

Image

A whole plane. That's what I call a proper load.

Image

Would not be good to get stuck right here.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Moving north of the Midlands towards Hull.

Image

The weather started acting up as we neared our destination.

Image

Image

Highway to Hull indeed. Buttocks tightly clenched, we cross the swaying Humber Bridge in howling winds and driving rain.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Looks like a billionaire has just bought a new home in Hull.

Image

That's it for now...

Well here we are in Hull, and I got taken on by R.A.S. Haulage for a couple of jobs covering for an employee on paternity leave.

Image

Looks pretty nifty. Today we're going to drive through the Yorkshire Dales via Hawes, and then on via the Isle of Man into Northern Ireland.

Image

Image

Heading northwards with a gigantic Ye Olde Cheese Churne.

Image

Crossing a bubbling stream.

Image

Lovely scenery along this road.

Image

Image

All too soon, we were gingerly picking our way towards the delivery point near Hawes along a narrow, walled overgrown road.

Image

Here we are!

Image

I was rewarded for my travails with a wheelbarrow brimminge fair over with fyne Curde, and a great cutte of Ham with all the condimentaries.

Image

What the hell's got into me I do not know. It's been a long day at work, and I'm missing my home country and its ancient peculiarities a little. Nothing to do with the dales and their inhabitants. So tired...

Image

Hawes and its environs is a great piece of mapping artistry.

Image

Image

Image

Cheese again, just unbelievable. But what else would one pick up at the Wensleydale creamery?

Image

Our journey continues westwards.

Image

Image

Heysham - where we'll take the ferry over to the Isle of Man.

Image

The red flags with the white symbols and the functional buildings + strangely technical monument (or communications tower?) give Douglas a strangely Communist feel.

Image

The Isle of Man is a little larger than Jersey, but not much, so just a few pics.

Image

Image

Wensleydale delivered to Ramsey, we're heading for Londonderry with what appears to be a small combine harvester.

Image

Arrival at the port in Belfast.

Image

Northern Irish road.

Image

Image

The road forked and the GPS was unclear and I was half asleep, so I played it safe and braked sharply while going down the middle, knocking this Internally Illuminated Multi Aspect Bollard for six.

The jaunt through Northern Island shall continue in a day or two. Cheers!

Image

Continuing from Belfast to Londonderry, today we're visiting most of Northern Ireland. A small but nice area in PM.

Image

Arrival in Londonderry.

Image

Image

A new cargo picked up. Took a wrong turn somehow, got to see a bit more of the town at least.

Image

Image

Londonderry to Omagh.

Image

The sky was a beautiful blue.

Image

Roundabout by Omagh. I don't have any shots from there, I wonder why. Too busy being captivated by the colours all around me.

Image

Omagh to Lisburn. My engine was acting up surprisingly after that minor collision with a bollard, so I decided to stop off at Lisburn and get an expert to take a look at it.

Image

Image

Heading into Lisburn. The fix was simple, swift and... expensive. But soon we were on our way.

Image

Lisburn to Belfast.

Image

Back in Belfast. This time we'll check it out.

Image

Big industrial city.

Image

Picked up a new load, to be taken to Aberystwyth in E. Wales. Another ferry crossing will be required.

Image

Image

But not from Belfast - from Dublin. Here we are on the way out of town.

Image

It was rush hour, though, so the going was slow. More haste, less speed, as they say.

Image

Image

By the time we'd finally disentangled ourselves from the rush hour traffic, the hour was getting late.

Image

Southbound to Dublin, now in Ireland, I guess.

Image

Still hard at work. Time to go home for tea, boys and girls.

Image

One lovely sunset, coming up.

Image

Image

Image

Next set will be from Dublin to Aberystwyth. Until then - au revoir!

Today we head across the sea to Wales and head down the eastern coast to Aberystwyth.

Image

Night is drawing in as we approach Dublin.

Image

Image

Heading for the ferry.

Image

Image

Arrived at Holyhead at sunrise.

Image

Image

Holyhead

Image

Crossing the Cymyran Strait to the Isle of Anglesey.

Image

Image

Looking back at the terminal.

Image

Crossing the Menai Strait to the Welsh mainland.

Image

Scenery town south of Anglesey. Not sure what it is. Caernarfon? Penygroes?

Image

Image

Porthmadog.

Image

Image

Porthmadog is a nice place, lots to see.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Now for the home stretch to Aberystwyth.

Image

Image

Impressive scenery on this route.

Image

Image

Image

Image

This is going to be a tight squeeze. The map shows some bends that will be impossible with this cargo if the walls continue all the way to the delivery point. Not merely difficult, but really impossible. Well, what can we do... onwards and upwards!!

Bye for now... Henri.

Back again, and getting really up close and personal with the beautiful scenery in PM Wales and Ireland.

Image

Image

Haven't seen a cattle grid - well, in this case sheep grid - in real life for ages. It's rare to see farm animals outside in the Czech Republic.

Image

Luckily the walls didn't continue all the way up to the first sharp turn, and so we were able to navigate it with relative ease.

Image

Gaining height at this interesting drop-off point.

Image

Image

Mind the sheep!!

Image

After a great lunch of roast mutton at the farm I headed into Aberystwyth, where I dropped off the truck and started a new short term contract with a new employer, Hume.

Image

Image

Just what is it with the Welsh and their veneration of the letter H? One often sees giant white Hs in fields over there. Usually there are two of them. Could they have some kind of Pagan ritual significance?

Image

Anyway, Hume needed me to return to Ireland, so off we set, heading south down the Welsh coast towards Fishguard.

Image

Image

Image

Image

Latent mutton at 2 o'clock!

Image

Now that's a big house.

Image

Image

The great escape.

Image

Got to say that Wales is extremely well done, a most enjoyable drive.

Image

Closing in on Fishguard now.

Image

Overtaken by a speeding lunatic right by the 'Drive Carefully' sign.

Image

Image

Image

The classic Fishguard view.

Image

One bumpy crossing later, we arrive in picturesque Rosslare.

Image

Image

That's it for now, back for another Irish tour soon.

Cheers!!

Henri
