It's not always about the amount of cities but also the scenery between those cities.

"There is not enough space"... than, guys, please have a look at the Southern Region Map!
Southern region map is in different scale than 1:19
Anyway there were spaces for everything... ;)

To calculate :

Italian Peninsula is 100 km at it's narrowest. At 1:19 (SCS map & time scale) that's only 5 km.

Naples is about 20 km across. At 1:3 (SCS city map & time scale) that's 6 km.

The city would have to be substantially bigger than the peninsula.

Obviously this isn't really the case, you can always stretch a bit, not all parts of the city are modelled at 1:3, and the peninsula is twice that distance at it's widest, but it's a useful glance to the scaling work ProMods team have to face.

Nothing prevents one from stretching at a lesser scale (ie. SR which does it at 1:17), but that'd mean the time aspect of the simulation becomes less realistic. There's also the question of connections - now SR essentially prevents a realistic "land conection" between, let's say, Greece and their area.

I'd like some corrections and improvements though.

City of Vatican? If so, which cargoes we'll see? :D
Gold :) ... tons and tons of it; but probably, only short trips inside the city :D
...imports, on the other side, are very welcome :P

Well, I`d say that realism goes to oblivion the moment You start introducing scales.

maybe a time to rebuild ETS in 1:1 ?!? ... the game will be sold on SSD probably :D

Maybe a time....sure, if you have decades worth of time for the wait, and wouldn't actually get bored out of your mind driving a single road for hours between two cities.

No way I could get bored... I have done it for a living for a bit longer than two decades, and if it were not for my back, I will still be sitting in my "living room on wheels", enjoying every moment of it.

...a few teams together should be able to put such a thing together in a few years, and I see multiple applications for such a sim ;)
the only difficulty I see, is keeping pace with the graphics standards, that are constantly evolving...

...anyway, it would be nice to have a 1:1 map for driving our beasts around.

I don't think so... you have to find the right balance... in this game, I want to see the world a bit, but imagine driving to Andorra... it would be madness.. I want to be able to switch my region quick.
Favourite games: Rainbow Six: Siege, ETS2, Terraria

It is madness :)
I never liked Portugal and Spain when it comes to driving...

anyway, the argument of a "sim" implies no compromises, and on the other side the argument of a "game" strives for compromises... to each its own I guess :)

I don`t know what I like more:
I like sims, `cause they are, let say "serious"
I like games, because they are fun

True, some "imagination" will have to take place, but it is possible to make something that feels and looks realistic. (I bet this is SCS policy for now as well I think !)

SCS has done that extremely well in Italy DLC, but I believe a few more could be added and redone.

That'd take time as long as if you were designing one for a real world construction. Given the oldest plans dates back centuries, you'll have to wait at least a lifetime.
