I think I've found my first map bug in 2.27

Going on the Channel tunnel train southbound, when I arrive at the Calais side, my truck and trailer get hung up somehow and go into a wild bronco frenzy. It only stops when both truck and trailer are completely 100% damaged.

I confirm that arriving on the train in either Folkestone or Calais can cause damage with long trailers. I will work on reporting this problem. In the meantime I recommend using the ferry instead of the train when hauling a long trailer between the UK and mainland Europe.

Don't worry about it - it's (kind of) solved.

Someone in the ETS2 Steam community pointed out to me it's actually a 'bug'/feature of the game itself. The Heavy Cargo DLC pack trailers are just too long to fit into the train carriages.

C & P'd their reply to me:
This isn't a Promods bug. It's a problem with the Heavy Haul cargo and the train crossing. Ever since that DLC was released folks have been having this happen to them. When you spawn in on the other side, going either way, the trailer clips into the train behind you and you go for a fun ride. ;)

Use the ferries when hauling the heavy stuff.

If only I'd thought about it more beforehand. It kinda makes sense as the chunnel is unlikely to take large and oversized loads IRL.

So, I'll go sailing next time I'm hauling big stuff.

I agree that the problem was initially caused by SCS introducing longer trailers (from the Heavy Cargo DLC), but SCS adjusted the player spawn points on the channel tunnel train platforms in their map to accommodate this. The ProMods team simply needs to make the same adjustment in the ProMods map. So I say it is a ProMods problem, even if it wasn't caused by ProMods.

I have recorded the Calais location in our bug tracking system, bug #12432. Thank you for your report.

The Channel Tunnel only caters for HGVs of certain dimensions, and no heavy cargoes have or will ever be transported on the train. The carriages have a height limit of 13'-9" (4.2m) and width limit of about 9'-0" (2.7m).

I thought (though only after the fact) they'd have quite severe restrictions.

It'd be cool if either SCS or Promods could somehow incorporate height and weight restrictions into SatNav routes like modern trucks have.

The best we could do is place some height limit overlays on the map to suggest you may need to avoid the route.

IMO that would be the way to go. Oversized cargo doesn't belong on the Channel Tunnel train. It would at realism to the way to get into the UK.

Some say, I'm addicted to ETS2. But then I say. No, it's ProMods, it's a way of life.
