Hi.

2 days ago I decided to reinstall my Windows 7. After the reinstallation I noticed that ProMods takes now 15-30 minutes to load!

I installed all drivers etc. and I'm sure everything's working fine. As soon as the game is loaded I easily get 60-90FPS, but the problem is that I have to wait for so long...

Loading order:

Often I just give up and kill the process in the task manager...

Logs:

1. I have also checked the integrity of files and there were no errors found.

2. I normally run the game in 64 bit mode. I've also tested 32-bit mode and it doesn't make any difference at all.

3. I also deleted the "config.cfg" file in the ETS2 folder in Documents, just to make sure there is no bullshit in the config - it didn't help.

4. I took my laptop apart to clean it inside - also didn't help.

5. Without Promods the profile loads almost instantly.

Intel Core i5-3337U
8GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD8730M (2GB)
Windows 7 HP 64bit

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi,

the loading time is normal - ProMods is adding many things to the SCS default map, therefore it takes long to load.

Hi,

what also helps is a SSD (I do not know if the creator of the topic has one).

Yeah, unfortunately it's a notebook, that can't really be upgraded.

It's weird, that it took like 2-3 minutes before reinstalling the system and now it takes like 4-5 times longer!

Maybe it's really time to buy a new computer... I think this laptop doesn't want to let me play ETS2 anymore although it's fast enough for my daily tasks.

If there's no way to make it load faster, then I'm gonna think about getting a better PC ;)

I'm still waiting for ideas how to make it faster, if you have any :)

Thank you!

That sounds like a VERY slow HDD. It affects load time a lot.

I'm afraid you'll probably end up having to bite the bullet and get a new hard disk of some kind. It sounds like it might be aging and on the slow end as well both of which contribute to its slow read time. I do know that many peeps here like SSD drives, and if your willing to pay a good chunk of extra money for a decent size SSD that would be my suggestion. If however you want to save some money you can get a quite large HDD that has a higher disk spin rate that boosts the load time time of your standard hard disk you can get a fairly large amount of disk space (1 TB or more) for about the same price as low capacity SSD. The only difference being SSD read rates are probably 10x faster than any of the standard hard disks that have higher spin rates.

It could also be down to the fact that you re-installed Win7. Over time you've probably disabled all those little things (?) in Windoze you never use. Now they are back in action. First thing I can think of is Auto updates. Always disable them and do it manually, at the very least with a fresh install as you'll be updating forever in the background, i.e. resource grabber.

Terrible advice here.

I have a SSD and i5 7600k..... nothing to do with hardware.

Look around here and you will see it is the new way caching works in 1.3 !

There are workarounds I think.
I7 7700k, GTX 1080, M.2 NVME Samsung 860 Evo.
