Hi, just started Playing ets2 again, and noticed i have suddenly gone from 1.5 min to 10 min loading times, i do have ALOT of mods and map addons+all dlcs so i know its expected however, it used to be 1.5-2 min and it does not become any shorter after loading once, the so called caching has no noticable effect and i still have 10 min loading times, any ideas whats wrong or how i can minimize loading times?

thnx

It's normal in the first loadings. After getting downloaded the second time will be much faster.

Take in count that if you make any change in the mod manager it will have to make that massive loading again.

Certain mods (Jazzycat's Trailer & Cargo Pack comes to mind) do cause longer loading times which is not related to the Navigation Cache being built. If you post your game.log we may be able to point out what is taking long time(s) during the loading.

Make sure that Maps always load first then other Mods. Maps must be lowest priority in Mod Manager!
But with the numbers of Mods running it is no wonder it takes so long.
The most time used is when it loads the cargo data, so it could be one or just too many trailer mods.
Investing in an SSD drive for games can also drasticly decrease loading times.

@TheMadPad, the biggest contributor to your loading time: company data (about 3 minutes out of your 4.5 minute load time).

Code: Select all

00:01:36.737 : Loading company data ....
00:04:34.133 : Loading unlock data ....
This will be a combination of map mods and trailer/cargo mods, but probably a large piece of this is due to Jazzycat's Trailer & Cargo Pack.

And as you suggested the game is using the Navigation cache it built previously, so that is not causing any delay:

Code: Select all

00:04:42.496 : Road network navigation caching started.
00:04:43.263 : Cached navigation loaded
00:04:43.264 : Road network navigation caching finished.

map expansion, DLC additions, trailer and cargoes updates, all these of course need additional time to load, my loading is about 7-8 minutes, however I use 2 large trailer packs jazzycat and chris45 plus 3 medium size of Roadhunter and many other small ones... for me the most important is that game run without errors and thus avoid game crashes which would be awful, then 2nd priority is to keep good FPS at high graphical quality which I achieved by removing demanding modded trucks with excessively useless details...
I don't see noticeable difference HDD vs SSD, I have both my game and mods on SSD
