You know situation after a perfect trip when you don't hit anything with truck or cargo, you check the damage tab: 0% truck, 0% cargo, the parking is perfect you hit "T" on keyboard and ..... wtf penalty from damage cargo.

I found a possible explanation in damage_data.sii file.

1. Truck have wear and don't need to hit something, your truck have damage especially on long distance trips.

# truck wear per km of drive

engine_wear: 2e-6
transmission_wear: 2e-6
wheel_wear: 2e-5

2. Truck transfer damage to trailers = cargo.

truck_to_trailer_dmg: 0.1 // how much damage is transferred from truck to trailer (and vice versa)

From what I've seen most of times this transfer is make it on the end of trip. If you have 5% wear damage on truck, cargo have damage from transfer.

My solutions for safe fragile delivery are:
- repair your truck before parking, complicated
- change truck_to_trailer_dmg to 0.0, works for me

First time i changed to 0.001 or something like this, but on long trip you take a lot of wear damage and if you repair the truck on road, repair doesn't works on trailer=cargo.

But of course if you hit the trailer direct, trailer take damage

"change truck_to_trailer_dmg to 0.0, works for me"
Now when you hit a wall at full speed, your truck will get 100% but trailer 0%. That doesn't sound fair ;)

F7 screen shows 0% but it may be 0.1% / 0.2% / 0.3% and so on. If you get some small damage, you probably scratched it somewhere a bit but not enough for 1%.

The problem is not when you hit something, then you know why the cargo have damage. Problem is at end of trip, when you park in open space and cargo have zero damage, disconnect trailer and you have penalty from damage cargo. Maybe I'm wrong, but in my opinion wear damage from truck is transfer on trailer at the end, after disconnect trailer. This doesn't sound fair :D

I hope you understand me now

I understood what you meant and I referred to this - you may have 0.1% damage from a little scratch that happened when you didn't notice it. Or some road bump caused it (very unlikely). Damage screen shows 0% but it's actually <1% and when you finish your job, that exact percentage is displayed to you. I didn't test it of course but that's what I noticed after years of playing ;)

Sorry, but you don't understand me, or my explanations are very bad.

Last try :)

Let's talk hypothetically:

Let's say we have a 5000 km journey.

We did not hit anything on the trip.

At the end of the trip we have 0% damage from hits, for both truck and trailer.

Now, because we have traveled 5,000 km, there is a wear for truck, which is recorded as damage:

# truck wear per km of drive

engine_wear: 2e-6
transmission_wear: 2e-6
wheel_wear: 2e-5

Let's say it is 5% at the end of trip.

Question:

Does the 5% damage from truck wear is transfer to the trailer through tuck_to_trailer_dmg ???

truck_to_trailer_dmg: 0.1 // how much damage is transferred from truck to trailer (and vice versa)

I think the answer is yes

So I don't refer to big or small hits or any kind of direct hits. It's about damage from wear truck.

I hope you understand me now :)

All The Best!!!

I'm pretty sure it doesn't work like that ;)
Tyre wear doesn't "damage" your cargo. So if you really didn't hit anything, it'll show 0%.

But maybe somebody else has an explanation for your problem.
