license plate dds file black?

Are the license plate dds files black? I'm opening with photoshop and nvidia dds plugin.
If isn't black, how can I solve it

umm.. I think It is really black image file. Then Why they exist?

it is just black image. How could I understand

The characters can be found in the Alpha channel.
