So, I decided to make my own ETS2 map, and I tried to make myself familiar with the editor.

I drew a simple line. I saved it as map1

But after reopening the editor...

...It magically disappeared.

Is it a glitch? Am I doing anything not right? Help...

Games are just dull without mods. DLC's are not enough. Gaming's magic is on the mods.

Go to your ETS2 folder (steamapps/common/Euro Truck Simulator 2), and create a new folder called base (No capitals). When you save a map it should appear in base/map/. In your case after saving map1 there would be 2 folders (autosave and map1) and 2 files (map1.mbd and map1.set)

I already have a base folder and it has autosave and map1. In fact, all of my map attempts are in there. The problem is that I can't open them.

Copy map1.mbd, map1.set, and the map1 folder into another folder called map, then use 7-zip to create a .scs file containing the map folder.

Then copy your .scs file to your mod folder and make sure it is below any other map mods (Alphabetically), or better still move any other mods somewhere else while editing.

Here's what should be in the map folder in your .scs file.

In map1 there will be sector data.

Maybe you should record a video to show your issues, so we can see where you're making a mistake.

Sure. Run map and Scene preview don't work either, but Free camera works perfectly. Hope you don't mind the misplaced car, it's only a demostration.

You didn't even pack your map, so how it's supposed to magically appear in the editor? :?

Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Euro Truck Simulator 2\base\map
And there you'll find your map files. Pack them like all other maps are packed, into a .scs file and place it in your "mod" folder.

So the issue isn't "map not saving", because it's being saved. You're just not loading it afterwards.

Do I have to pack all map files or just .mbd and .set files? I tried to pack .mdb and .set files into a .scs folder and then place them into my mod folder and nothing happened. Still, I try to open the editor and can't find the .mbd file anywhere. Note that I can only open .mbd files in the map folder, and there are all of my attempts, but no-one of them but europe.mdb is available.

Yes you have to pack the .mbd, .set files and the folder containing all the sector data. Put everything in a folder called map.

In the .scs file:

In the map folder:

(In map1 are your sector data files (.data, .aux, .base, .desc))
