I apologize profusely for posting this in the wrong forum and I also apologize for not being able to find the answer myself through a search of the website or google and I have also re-read the load order post about a dozen times for clues.

Could some kind soul please tell me the difference between the standalone trailer mod and the replacement trailer mod and why I should choose either one?

I'm pretty sure that a replacement trailer mod replaces the base game trailers with the moded ones. A standalone trailer mod is as well as the base game trailers. However, if you had a shell tanker replacement trailer mod that would only replace the base game 'fuel' tanker, not every trailer.

Replacement means, all SCS trailer are replaced with some mod trailer, standalone trailer are additional trailer and you´ll will keep SCS trailer in game, too.
