I am very thankful that they are going to fix the I-80 in California. That part of the map in my opinion was one of the biggest insults of ATS, and I'm glad that they're fixing it (along with the stupid ground intersections on Interstate highways instead of proper exits). Also, don't hold your breath on having 21 lanes for the I-5 in San Diego  It'd be hard enough to get four lanes as is

More lanes vs playability/scale?
I would vote for the latter.
21 lanes? would ...... no, no for this scale.

while I understand IRL why I-5 needs 21 lanes for that stretch between LA and SD its just not necessary in this game. nor is there really enough traffic being generated to even make it seem like its being used like it should be.

I also think that I-5 will not have 21 lanes, because it is from (I think) CA 56 to I-805, just 2.1 miles, to small for 1:19.
I hope that, in cities, highways will have between 8 and 12 lanes. As I can see, the most highways have so many lanes.

8-12 lanes, do you mean in 1 direction?
For ATS and ETS2, I would prefer.... not so many lanes.

its likely that SCS will stick with their favorite 2x2 road lanes, there are very few exceptions where they actually expand to 3x3 I don't think I've seen a case where they used anything more than that even in the largest of cities.

Las Vegas?
Well... not I15, but some of the "smaller" roads in the mid city.
Going the realistic way on those +5 or more oneway lanes would destroy the scale of the cities.

Yeah, that's the problem. Many people wants real roads. Guys, real roads are in 1:1 scale. And for this reason Truck Sim series will never be a simulator, whatever they add in the game. So what can we objectively expect ? A good "atmosphere" related to the geographical region we virtually visit, some well known landmarks, and a plausible road network. At least, I expect this.

8-12 in both directions. I forgot express lanes, so number of lanes is 2 - 4 more.
I will be satisfied with 8 lanes. I think, two additional lanes won't spoil map. As we can see, promods has hirhways with 8 lanes (with stopping lane) in Stockholm an maybe on few more places. With almost same scale, SCS can do same. But, I am sure, if SCS doesn't do it, Promods will. ;)

Do you mean 10 40 ends at 15 in bakersfield. I do agree 10 should make its way to 5 and possibly add the 210. When we lived in Cali we used to take it to go to Arizona
I-40 ends at I-15 in BARSTOW, not Bakersfield. ;)

Also guys, about the lanes. I-5 in the L.A suburbs as shown on the most recent blog post literally has 4x4 lanes. I-10 has also been widened to 3x3 lanes as far as I seen as-well. Oxnard has been COMPLETELY rebuilt and looks more suburban like how it should look, They got the REAL East Los Angeles interchange in the game, and it also looks like a lot of L.A's inner and surrounding area. SCS says the Rescale should go into internal testing in a several weeks, and right after that will be a Open Beta similar to the Arizona DLC's open beta.
