Go into map editor, press C to get the top-view camera, zoom out and press A few times until you see the background map ;)

I think will be Oregon, Utah and Colorado in next year (and one will be free). A lot of people saying, why is only one state per year. So, should be now more than 2 states.

Hopefully SCS will hire more mappers and speed up the process.

For me, Oregan is a no brainer (and conveniently takes the game north towards Washington State.
Main benefits are a complete flip of the US SW scenery, to the amazingly scenic US NW.
Texas (as much as I love Texas IRL) would "just" be kinda more of the same scenery as we already have.
Just my opinion :)

more mappers has been confirmed few months ago. I think the mappers from Italy DLC will be make more states in ATS now. so I feel 3 states in next year as above.

I'm pretty sure those ETS2 mappers, that worked on the Italy DLC, will now work on the next ETS2 DLC, not in the US ;)

Yeah, for what I've seen about Texas on TV (I know, that's not really the real thing) I think Texas shouldn't even be a DLC on it's own, but together with a neighboring state.

And what about middle states like Kansas, Misouri, Nebraska etc. :D

Yeah, i think that states in the Midwest are the less expected, because it's mainly flat grasslands and fields.

But this makes me think that the development here would be faster (and perhaps more work focused on the cities there), and a not so long wait to reach the east, which is more forested and mountainous
