Hi,
I bought the new version this morning and installed it.
Now game crashes when loading. I noticed that the 2.27 archive is not containing a def package anymore, is this intended or might this be the cause for the loading crash?

The DEF-file has never been inside the archive. It has always been the file you need to download in step 1 of the download process.
Which you skipped, you need to download and enable the DEF-file in order to have a working mod.
