If a mod has been updated that means that it has been improved and already tested before its release so you don't get any kind of problem when using it.

I think it is not a good idea to use newest mods with old game version.. 1.26... We have 1.31 now and the mods are updated for use with 1.31..
And since the 1.31 update has major changes to the game that affected that maps, trucks and even trailers had to be updated I think there could be problems if using an old game version with newer mod versions..
If there are important grounds for staying at an older version (because of the ocolus in your case) you should stay by the mod versions that are made for 1.26.. That is the way I would handle it so.
Except the experts here say it's no problem to use the new mods on an old game version.
