If I try and open the map editor, the game crashes

I have no mods enabled in the mod manager or mod folder but I have a sneaky suspicion that ets2 is mounting Workshop mods even thought they are not enabled

When opening the map editor the game bypasses the Mod Manager and loads all mod files from your mod folder in alphabetical order (I'm not sure if it also loads mods from Steam Workshop). So if you have any conflicting mods it can cause the editor to crash. If that doesn't help to solve your problem, please post your entire game.log, because the game.log you posted shows us almost nothing.
