As stated in the title, my def file is a .zip archive and not a .scs file. This has been a problem before for me but people told me to not worry about it and that it'll work anyway. But now, I do need to worry about it because the TruckersMP launcher won't recognize it.

So rename it from ".scs.zip" to just ".scs". I have seen several people with this problem but I do not understand how anyone could have obtained the file that way. The ProMods site always delivers it as an ".scs" file.

Ok so this is very important and you might want to tell someone to update the download instructions. But I figured out why it was a .zip file. When downloading your def file (in Firefox specifically) you need to click on "save file" instead of "open with..." (Could be 7zip or WinRAR or something like that). Because when you click "open with" it downloads it as an archive instead of a .scs file like it does when you click "save file".

Why would you want to open it instead of save it?

Well it does save it too but to me at least, it is more efficient so I don't have to drag it onto my desktop and then open it I can just have the browser open it for me immediately.

You shouldn't need to "open" the definition file unless you are planning to extract files from it. You place the downloaded definition file directly into your mod folder as-is. 95% of users will never need to "open" it.
