ProMod's mapping progress in map-view!

Postby Purno » 06 May 2014 11:26

So, there's lists on the modding progress, but I haven't seen a map yet.

So I made one, in Google Maps!
https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit? ... b3G1qtRsKM

Based upon this topic for the added cities, and this topic for the planned cities. Since Google Maps uses English citynames, I typed over these lists, including any typos they may include.

With this map it's very clear how huge ProMods is. The covered area is huge as well as increased density by adding cities in already existing countries.

Since it's Google Maps, I should be able to give other people editing permissions, if desired.

Wow, thanks Purno. That's an impressive illustration.
And if you add Mirfi's list of planned Romania cities, ProMods will be way bigger than the original map....

The illustration itself isn't impressive, but what it illustrates is impressive. :P

I noticed Mirfi's list indeed, but am tempted to wait till his list is added to the 'official' progress chart. I don't like to be ahead of any 'official' announcements made by the devs.

Lookin at this shows up a couple glaring omissions in the original game, which could be "low hanging fruit" for the ProModders. Cities like Graz in Austria and Leeds in the UK, e.g.. Not breaking into new territory with new road markings and signage, but just general map improvements to strengthen their position as the de-facto map add-on.

Also i think perhaps Plzen and Oxford might fit into the low hanging fruit category

As always, the map can be viewed via this link.

I certainly intent do keep this up to date. But if desired, it should be possible to give other people editing permissions too. (Or at least, that's possible with Google Docs, haven't tried it with Google Maps yet).

When the yellow dots will become green the map will be HUGE! In the future please go more south and add Greece. I know TSM includes Greece but I dont like TSM, the quality is awful compared to ProMods.

The following cities, varying in short and long term plans have not been mentioned yet (because I forgot to put them on the progress chart), but should be on the map:

To cover the gaps between Trondheim and the rest of the map we include these small cities:
- Ålesund (NO)
- Lillehammer (NO)
- Östersund (SE)

Since Platypus is working his way to the north of Finland pretty fast, and since we missed a few cities he already planned, we can also include:
- Umeå (SE)
- Luleå (SE)
- Tornio (FI)
- Pori (FI)
- Vaasa (FI)
- Kotka (FI)
We will meet each other at Sundvall (at the long term) ;)

Best,
MandelSoft
