You people have cool languages but as some words can be hilarious in English.

Well in that case I certainly wouldn't take the Ausfahrt

Online translators tell us that Ausfahrt and Utfart mean exit/driveway, although fart on it's own apparently means speed, as in the Danish fart kontrol signs at roadworks . Any other meanings are just an example of the English sense of humour

As a expat Brit I've go to admit the first time I saw the FartKontrol signs in Denmark I must admit I had to look twice and twice again then just fall about laughing off my chair

thats why I like the nordic languages. They are so similar to german, especially for ones who know plattdeutsch, a dialect spoken in north germany. So I mostly understand the signs there ^^

There is also one funny thing in Scandinavia for us Dutch: if you drive on the E45 near Aalborg, you will see a sign with a city called "Aars", which literally means "arse" in Dutch

Also, "Utfart" and "Ausfahrt" sound similar to the dutch word "uitvaart" (funeral). So if you are speeding and take an Ausfahrt in real life, with those tight curves you are asking for one (moral of the story: don't try speeding in Germany... EVER!) I'm getting a bit in the dark humour territories with this one...

Similar thing for us (northern Flanders), we have be carefull about what we say out loud in our dialect in Germany as particularly people in the Ruhr valley tend to understand what we're saying.
