So I thought I'd give promods a shot since I heard nothing but good things about it.
My question is FPS. What is everyone getting on average? In the normal game (no map mods) I would almost steady 50-60fps. Since ProMods, I do notice in some areas (citys/interchanges) it can go down to the mid 30s FPS.
For my setup, I am somewhat surprised at the FPS loss..

Any ideas/suggestions?
Thanks.

On highways I usually get about 34 fps and about 22 to 25 in most cities (except inside ProMods Hamburg – about 15 fps, only went there once, I'll probably avoid driving around there). I've noticed frame drops without ProMods in forested areas of the map, particularly Austria from the top of my head; I don't really notice until 25 fps. I like pushing my settings higher than I probably should for my graphics card. I haven't noticed a difference in performance between running the 64 and 32 bit versions; running the game in OpenGL mode might improve the frame rate but I haven't tested that due to the texture bugs. I also can't help but think that performance could be better if ETS2 supported Direct3D 11 but I have no evidence to suggest that that would help. My specs are:
- E3-1225 v3
8 GiB RAM
GTX 550Ti

Couple basic questions...
Which resolution / level of detail / anti-aliasing are you trying to acchieve?
Are you running the game in 64-bit mode (because that really helps)?
Do a search on the SCS forums, as I seem to recall some kind of trickery being involved to get the game to actually use a dual graphics card setup.

While that doesn't seem excessive for your setup, it's beyond what my rig can acchieve so I don't have a direct comparison. I'm running 1680x1050 on a 1st generation i7 @ 2.8Ghz with 12GB of RAM, w/ a single Radeon HD5800. In 64-bit mode I have most of the settings at medium or high, with 4x MSAA and HDR and DOF off (because I don't like those effects) and I'm getting between 40 and 60 fps everywhere, except some of the more complicated areas where some slight stuttering is evident, dropping framerates into the 20's and 30's.YoungGunz wrote:1440p
Mostly High/Ultra
200% scaling
no AA
That said, though , I still think this game looks amazing at times. considering its age.
The game.log (in your Documents/Euro Truck Simulator 2 folder) will reveal which "adaptors" it's using; look for both adaptor "0" and "1" being used.YoungGunz wrote:How do I know if ETS is using both my GPU's?

I get a steady 60fps on the highways, and down to 40fps in towns if there is traffic. I limit FPS to 65 with NVidia Inspector and let the game deal with V-Sync. Also I set 4xsgssaa in Inspector. In-game graphics mostly medium @1920x1080 with 125% scaling.
I run a Haswell i3-4150 @3.5GHz with 8GB RAM and an EVGA GTX750 1GB.
I cannot run High or Ultra without stuttering and low FPS.
But I am still tinkering with settings...
Oh, and ETS2 in 64-bit mode.

I'm running 1.18 + Promods 1.91 @1080p
Scaling: 100%, mirror distance and grass density at medium, everything else is maxed out/turned on.
GeForce GT 650M (~GTX 550 Ti) in OpenGL mode (64bit Linux) gives me 15-25fps.
I would be very interested to hear from someone else with similar specs on Windows (both DX in OGL modes). My experience is nothing much changes regarding fps when meddling with graphics settings. I have a suspicion that is due to the fact that SCS engine sucks in opengl mode.
