New entry in SCS Blog!

http://blog.scssoft.com/2018/04/america ... e-131.html

"Of course, this will also apply to the mod creators going forward. Historically, we have used a concept of "stamps" with pre-designed patterns to conserve memory and disk space, but we are abandoning this approach, and letting the map designers just "paint" surface properties with a "brush." This will bring more freedom and flexibility to map design; it should make the work more effective when a map designer is in need of a particular terrain feature. For the time being though, it means that map mods will have to be re-touched and re-saved with the new system, so things will need to settle down until everybody catches up"

Does it means ProMods must be redone entirely with the new technic?????

This is a blog post for ATS, so I don't think this will be applied immediately to ETS2.

Does that mean that you can take a road (whichever you want) and repaint the terrain it comes with? Just like so? You won't have to make the same road prefab 20 times just so the surrounding terrain matches the environment?

Look at the base map parts of France or Italy. It's a great example of this.
I like trucking, I like Europe, so that's why I love ProMods!

It means we can now brush prefabs' terrain, which wasn't possible before. And this tool is much more flexible. You have to use the editor to understand the difference ;)

So it's exactly what I said. Good.

I'm not sure if I understand this question correctly and if you understand how it works.

A prefab has any terrain texture you want (just like roads). But you can't brush it currently - you can't add fields for example. There are solutions for that of course but that was still a limitation.

I just would like to know if Promods will remain compatible after this update, since the text says: map mods using the old method will have to be changed to the new method and resaved...

So does it means ProMods will have to be redone to be compatible? Or is just a doubt coming from my ignorance? Thanks in advance.
