somebody made the joke somewhere that SCS aren't doing spain and portugal because they weren't in promods, and I almost wonder if they are right. I mean part of spain in promods, but I wonder if SCS is trying to compete with promods. I heard one of the former promods devs was hired by SCS to work on the Germany remake and that is certainly a large part of the base game that people don't like.

Other reason for not Spain/Portugal:
New DLC area, direct connection to base map. Or atleast the oldest map DLC.
While France DLC is not that old yet.

Spain/Portugal, 2020 or 2021, my bet. The next map DLC after the 1 in making now.

In a few, or more... weeks, we'll see more and then finally the map area.

BtBS technically would also need GE! and they use a ferry from Rostock.

If Romania and Bulgaria (or more countries are going to be the next DLC), they will need GE! too as Hungary is one of the countries included on that DLC, remember that! Now it will be interesting to see how will SCS solve this as it's not possible to make a ferry connection.

About Iberia DLC, a Plymouth -> Bilbao ferry is an option as well as a Genova -> Barcelona ferry (Genova could be included in the base game if that occurs).

Iberia I think it will be next (have no clues on that, just my imagination).

Going East, is the oldest DLC. I did write "Or atleast the oldest map DLC."
The ferry connections between base map and Baltic, yep, there IRL too.
Turku harbour, that 1 possible to add, even when Naantali is ingame.
There is space, especially when looking at the future Turku Harbour.

It might be possible that, if more countries than Romania and Bulgaria, wich I sort of think might very well come...

There might be a land connection to base map.

Spain connections to base map?
Bilbao - Portsmouth "This 1 I have active in ProMods"
Plymouth - Santander - Portsmouth
Cork - Santander "ProMods someday?"

Genova -> Barcelona ferry? quite possible.

A ferry connection to Ruse is very possible as the Danube is big. They could also make ferry connections to the Black Sea coast or the Adriatic Sea coast. There's also the possibility of train connections via Sofia or Bucharest. There's lots of choices here. I'm sure SCS has figured something out.
