Speed limits in Europe

Hello guys! I'd like to ask you what are real speed limits for trucks on highways? I saw on the internet official sources from European Commission and in the most cases for almost all countries in Europe speed limit is 80km/h (vehicles over 7,5t), but everyone drives 90km/h. Austria, Germany, Italy... speed limit is 80km/h and trucks go 90km/h. I'm not truck driver, so I ask you this.

That's okay, but I asked you for real life. As you can see, a lot of truck drivers record videos and put them on YouTube and you can see that they drive 90km/h. "All of these speed limits are the national speed limit in for trucks on different roads or in different areas. The national speed limit does not apply in many places in Europe, so be aware when driving" maybe national limit in Germany for example is 80km/h, but it's changed and specified by the sign and it's 90km/h. I hope you understand what I want to ask you.

I asked one professional driver and he told me that truck's speedometer is imprecise 3-7km/h so actually you drive about 85km/h when your cruise control is on 90km/h and that's 10% of tolerance. In theory you make a fault, but in praxis you don't.

That's the same with cars. That's called 'tolerance'.

When your limit is 130kmh. You can easily drive 140kmh on your speedo, without the risk of a ticket.

What I love in the game is that if you set your cruise control to speed limit + 5, you get no tickets, but make better time than estimated. That is -obviously- owing to tolerance (as VB4L pointed out). IRL (In Real Life) the tolerance before getting a ticket is higher (at least, in my country) because the police must also allow for fault in their own system. If (IRL) you drive max + 10%, you will stay ticket free.

We also do a little bit over the limit (usually 5-7 km/h), and we count on that our vehicle's speedometer is imprecise about 5 km/h.

By current laws, you'll receive a notification if your speed is 3-6 km/h over the limit, and a ticket is your speed is 7 or more km/h over the limit. In my own experience, I've driven like (possibly) 4km/h over the limit and a police van has came towards me. But they've never turned around and pulled me over. There is also a "measuring error" thing called where they extract 3km/h out of our speed. This happens is they've used radar or an automatic speed control ("peltipoliisi", speed camera) camera has flashed on you.

So basically, if we have 50km/h limit and one goes 55km/h. After taking the 3 km/h out, one has driven the actual speed of 52km/h and will receive a verbal notification, if they pull him/her over.

If they're hiding in bushes and measuring out your speed with radar (still 50km/h limit), and you go 60 km/h, it's the same, they take the 3 "error" speed units out, and speed has been 57km/h, and you will receive a speeding ticket, though the police might be in a kind mood and give you a chance.

Same goes if they got you with their radar on their cars. But if camera flashes, you get a ticket but you will also get the picture when it has flashed on you. The same laws applies to these as explained earlier.
