what is the optimal Setup for a gaming pc special for ETS2 with Promods

Hello All,

are there experiences what the optimal Setup for a dedicated ETS2 PC is? As we are still dealing mostly with an DX9 GE.

The question is heading specific to the choice of CPU e.g. 2700X vs. 8700k

The change to a 1080ti from a RX470 brought significant improvement (of course there already pricewise worlds between)

But the rest of the computer needs also an update. For both options the rest of the system would be on a even Niveau e.g. Ram with 3200 Mhz, Drives in SSD or NVME. Both CPU with an comparable cooling Solution. Its known that the 8700k will have better capabilities in OC (deliding, Liquid metal) but does it matter in the daily driving or just in synthetic benchmarks. And how is the comparison in stock conditions? (i assume they are on a comparable level)

I have a i7-6700K @ 4800Mhz, 32GB ram, a GTX970 and can play with ultra-maxxed out settings with a 50FPS+ @ 1920x1200.
SCS games are not really demanding on your system. I do advise a SSD as the ProMods files are quite large and loading your PM profile can take a few minutes on a traditional mechanical harddisk.

A M.2 NVME disk is a few seconds faster. But only when it's extracing the SCS/ZIP archives. After the extraction process, there isn't a lot of difference between SATA and NVME based disks. That because the random access time between a Samsung 870 Pro and a 960 Pro are about equal. The NVME is only faster when it can do substantial large sequential read or write operations.. But most files do not exceed the default 4K NTFS block size..
