Here in Germany we get the presents on the 24th during Heiligabend. We always have some simple meal that my mum made earlier the day.

The 25th and 26th are the Christmas days where you often visit family and have a large dinner.

Also I want to wish everyone a blessed and happy Christmas in advance.

Here we celebrate Christmas Eve on 24th having big dinner (without meat, fat and dairy products) together with relatives, then we celebrate Christmas on 25th having any kinds of food and drinks dinner.
My family opened presents today, because we left home today and travelled to another place to meet up with relatives.

Here, we have dinner (carp + mashed potatoes - some cheat with having chicken schnitzel instead of carp :P) on the 24th and open our presents after the dinner. So there's nothing interesting with the 25th and 26th, except for that they are public holidays and people meet with relatives etc.

So, it's gift time for me in an hour or two

EDIT: more about Czech Christmas for those who are interested can be found here
;)

Come on, cheating? Some don't eat fish, I don't like it. Nobody in my family does. So we do schnitzels, but not chicken ones, that's too ordinary... and not really festive.

Plus you missed potato salad, or is that more of a Slovak thing? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Smoked sausages, boiled and smoked meat, christmas cakes (more like biscuits, sort of, let's say pâtisserie traditionelle), mead, oh yeah, we eat as much as we can on 24th. And 25th. And 26th.

And of course, some good ol' christmas tales, classics on TV that we watch every year. Some are 40, 50, 60 years old, even more. Today they are retouched, but, you know, you have to preserve cultural heritage (not like France does, that's coward).

Ain't that bad, don't ya think?

Obviously I was joking when I wrote cheating. And yes, we have potato salad and smoked sausages in the Czech Republic too.
But I'm cheating with having only potatoes instead of the salat. I don't like it :P

I already got my presents at the 5th of December (Sinterklaas). Since I plan to move out in a few months, I got a set of pots to cook dinner in my new apartment (wherever that may be).

Christmas Eve is nothing particulary special here. But tomorrow, we have breakfast with freshly baked bread and a more elaborate dinner than usual.
