OK, here's what you can do to narrow down the causes of the bug:
1. Split up your package; put your sectors in one package and the rest in the other. Also, the game has trouble with reading your package if it's larger than 2GB.
2. Test your package only loading your assets and not the map (in your case, the default map). If this works, continue to step 4.
3. If the game crashes, try to load it without the DEF files. If it still crashes, you surely have corrupt models and/or materials and textures.
4. If the game does not crash with the assets, try to load your map and re-add sectors to the map one by one. Continue re-adding until it crashes. That will be the bugged sector.
5. When possible, revert back to 1.22 and remove the bugged items from the map.
