Right, hi there! I spent the whole day mapping in the editor (Well... experimenting ;) ) and I wanted to save my work.
I watched a few tutorials, I scoured the SCS Forums, but I couldn't find an answer to my problem.

I have created a base folder in my installation directory, and extracted the base.scs to there.
I got the map folder, and there are 3 things in there:

An autosave folder, a europe folder and a europe.mbd file.
When I try to save my work in the editor, it always says Failed to create the output file - The map is NOT saved, backups have been advanced

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks in advance,

Can I see photos of the folders to make sure they are correct?

This is my map folder, inside said base folder:

(Please note that there isn't an autosave folder anymore (probably because the editor crashed and I lost my work))

Is there anything missing here?

Thanks in advance,

There should be an europe.bak folder and a europe.set folder created when the game is saved, however, they are missing here. Try deleting these files from the "map" folder and then saving your work. New files should be created.

I finally find a solution after 2 months.
Only you need to do create a folder named base_map in ETS2 Main folder (...\common\Euro Truck Simulator 2).
I hope it works.

Hello, I have recently moved to a new device with no map editor files. So I decided to install it all again and I am ending up with the same error message. I have looked on other forums as well but couldn't really find anything on solving it. I created a folder called "base_map", and a folder inside of that called "map".

I'm a bit confused on what to do and I really hope all of this makes sense!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
