What's your favourite driving music...?

It's funny but I'm starting to understand why truckers like C&W so much. It's relaxing but still has enough beat (and high end) to punch through the road noise. I can't listen to really aggro rock while driving, and most classical just gets eaten up by the ambient noise. But laid-back country, Southern country rock, and Irish fiddle music seem to work really well. I'm driving outside cab all the time, so I have a lot more road and engine noise (kinda like having the window open).

Yea its a classic trucking song but it's not one of my favorites for some reason.

Ugh, Country music is awful stuff even a few minutes of exposure to me is just poison. *falls over dead*
I might survive a few Johnny Cash songs though not much else.
I'd say if you want a good experience with music, especially if you have lots of 'white noise' around you should invest in a pair of headphones that are able to cancel out the ambient noise around you. Then you can play whatever and won't have to make concessions on what you listen to. Music is really something you should enjoy without any outside interference anyway. You can miss a lot of the experience you can have when listening imo.

Well, chacun a son gout I am aiming for immersion, so I actually want the mix of radio and road noise, that nostalgic feeling of listening to the old FM dashboard radio while driving late into the night, not too loud, a thread of familiar tunes mixing with the wind, engine, tyre sounds. When I really want to listen to music I put on good phones; but when I want to take a virtual road trip I just want the ambience, the background sound of a favourite tape (yes, tape, oh lord that dates me!) in the dash player... I'd never wear phones while driving IRL

yes, tapes do take you back at least a good 25 to 30 years before compact disks. I went through some old stuff in my grandparents house and found some historic A tracks, those didn't last long when they came out for sure some transition piece from the record vinyls to the cassette tape.
