Summers are nice. Rarely does it get over 90F during the day, usually you'll have upper 80's during the summer. You'll also have near nightly rains off the mountains, too.

I don't have a favorite U.S. State. But my father was in Texas (in Houston, San Antonio and Austin) and in Florida (in Pensacola)...

I must say that Alaska is also a pretty unique state. Just like Hawaii it's also not part of the continental United States.
Back in the good 'ol days I always thought that Alaska was part of Canada. On the other hand Greenland is Danish and Sint Maarten, Bonaire and Curacao are special Dutch municipalities..
Food for thought: Would Hawaii be a US state if Japan did not attack Pearl Harbor on that dreadful December day in 1941 or would it much like Guam, Puerto rico and the US Virgin Island just be a US region?

At some point it would have behooved congress to do so, Its strategic importance as a permanent base for the Navy is one good reason, if they needed more incentive it would have come from the Hawaiian people themselves whom had petitioned congress twice before actually being accepted. Out of 155,000 registered voters, 140,000 votes were cast (90% turnout) impressive even by today's standards, only about 8000 votes (5%) cast against the statehood admission act. Perhaps if the Islands were not a direct target for a war the turnout might not have been so exceedingly high as it was at the time, however it probably would have still be a favorable turnout for this admission.
Puerto Rico, has recently tried for an admission vote, with polls showing about 55-65% of voters favorable to joining. Too much division going on there, probably due to how the US is treating them at the moment it doesn't exactly get the support they desire from the government. Though there are certainly enough voters in Puerto Rico than some of the other territories. Guam, American Samoa, and Virgin Islands just don't have the kind of population to be considered much more than a territory.

I have a few.
Wisconsin is for natural wonder.
California and Texas is for complex metros and cities
Florida for warmth and very touristy areas
South Carolina because it has my favorite vacation spot anywhere, Hilton Head Island
And, of course, my home state of Illinois, more specifically, Chicago.
