Faroe Islands and Iceland Development
Not yet, but it gets harder to try to make something new, rather than using the same trick over and over again. Additionally, after placing the first 100 rocks carefully, it's hard to maintain the same quality when placing the next 100 rocks. So doing this thing in small bits helps with quality.Gazer75 wrote:Dreaming of rocks yet?
The other end of this tunnel is the no-snow zone. That should help me to work on something different

Great work! I have a feeling this "working on rocks" thing is going to become a running joke, so watch out... ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_e_wink.gif)
But, I mean, you might as well face the truth; your map is becoming something great! But don't go falling off the face of the earth after you're done, you can always chip away at other projects...

Maybe you can pilfer a winter mod for some trees and bushes without foliage or some brown grass to diversify your winter landscape a bit. Still on the lookout for a snowman, BTW.Purno wrote:Not yet, but it gets harder to try to make something new, rather than using the same trick over and over again. There's no trees and bushes in Iceland. The climate is probably too rough for them. Only in some towns there's small trees, which probably get special treatment to keep them aliveJan Verschueren wrote:Maybe you can pilfer a winter mod for some trees and bushes without foliage or some brown grass to diversify your winter landscape a bit. I'll play around with brushes later, to add some dirt on the snow or to add snow on the dirt, to make the transition from the no-snow area to the snow area better. But considering this is my very first landscape-transition, using a tunnel to cheat seemed like a good idea.
As I'm still learning to work with the editor, and discover new things quite frequently, I know it was a good decision to start out with the southern coast (which is not snowy, and no towns), then worked my way to the east coast (snow, but only a few small villages). I'll save the north coast (more snow, probably need additional textures) and the west coast (Reykjavík) for later, when I'm more experienced with the editor

As for the snowman; No model is available. Get me one and I'll use it

Not sure. It's not a prefab, so that should make it easier. There's other people on the team who know more about making models than I do. We don't have a lot of modellers on the team, so if you got some hidden talent to make some 3D-models, that could be very useful. ![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)

When i saw this topic i thougt: ''WTF XD''
But i saw the dev map of the plans on Iceland ( the map on page1) and i think that ÍSAFJÖRÐUR (north west Iceland https://www.google.nl/maps/place/%C3%8D ... d156b309f7) is a good point for a little city of north west Iceland
About ÍSAFJÖRÐUR: (soure: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%8Dsafj%C3%B6r%C3%B0ur and http://isafjordur.is/)
The population of ÍSAFJÖRÐUR is about 2.600 people (2,867 incl Hnifsdalur)
The economy is about tourisim, fishing (Eurogoodies?)
and goverment stuff The city is connected by road nr 61 ( ÍSAFJÖRÐUR - road nr 60, and road 60 connects with the ring road nr 1)(https://www.google.nl/maps/@65.478348,- ... biBMhA!2e0) The road itself is a (so far i can see) Paved road just like road nr 60. The road 61 is a challenge (https://www.google.nl/maps/@65.9832084,-22.7092837,10z) but also beautiful road to drive. (https://www.google.nl/maps/@65.961808,- ... ln-Q9Q!2e0).
the distance between ÍSAFJÖRÐUR and Reykjavík is about 450KM

Is it possible to make the smaller roads really narrow? Like so narrow it just barely fits two trucks in there, because that would make for a good challenge to drive there. Just asking, because the Icelandic roads are really narrow irl as well.
