Sorry if I will sound to harsh but I agree with Purno - while road from Sellfoss to Hella doesn't look to bad it still cries for improvements.

I am going to give some tips and links to street view.

https://www.google.lt/maps/@63.939679,- ... !2e0?hl=en
1. Road needs elevation. We get a lot of snow and crazy wind in winter so the roads has to be elevated quite a lot. Otherwise it will be covered in snow in no time.
Sugestion - raise the roads by few meters.
2. I see forest!!! Well for most of us this is just few trees but in Iceland it is forest. We have few such forests in Iceland so to add it somethere should be fine. Joke and a note about icelandic forest - Question: What you have to do if you get lost in forest in Iceland? Answer: Stand up. :)
Sugestion - if you see forest in street view - add it. But don't make it to big and to high. Use only smallest trees you can.
3. Horse riding pathway along the road. Iceland has huge amount of horses and horse back riding is very popular. In many places there is small gravel path for horse riding.
Sugestion - single lane gravel road might be solution. Otherwise some work with brushes might do the job.
4. Farmers grass fields and wild grass. Look at the grass next to the road. It is quite high and dry. That's because no one is cutting it. Farmer fields are ALWAYS more green. That's because they fertilise their fields with slurry/manure/chemicals and cut the grass every year.
Sugestion - make wild grass more dry and yellow while keeping farmers fields (covered with fence ofcourse) green. Brushes might be usefull.

https://www.google.lt/maps/@63.940258,- ... !2e0?hl=en
5. Protect the roads. On each side of the road the are fences along the way. This is for 1 reason - then the sheep are being released outside in the spring time they are roaming free. Fences keep them away from roads.
Sugestion - more fences.
6. Horses. Like I said there are many horses in Iceland. It is very common to see them in fields.
Sugestion - add some horses if possible. Not sure if there are horses models in game.

https://www.google.lt/maps/@63.94118,-2 ... !2e0?hl=en
7. Bushes. To brake emptyness you could add some few bushes.
Sugestion - add bushes but again not to much and not to high. Usually those bushes are not higher that 1 meter. The solution could be (if possible) to sink them in the ground by lowering elevation.
8. Mountains in the distance. Note the mountains in the distance. There are only few places in Iceland there you can't see mountains.
Sugestion - background "wallpapers" (don't know how it's called) could be used.

https://www.google.lt/maps/@63.942008,- ... !2e0?hl=en
9. Round hay bales. In the second parts of summer this scenary is quite common in Iceland. Farmers cut their fields (protected with fences so that sheep could not enter) and make round bales. Usually they are wrapped in white plastic.
Sugestion - add some hay bales in green, fertilized farmer's fields.

https://www.google.lt/maps/@63.942878,- ... !2e0?hl=en
10. Farmers need power. Look at all those power lines. Ussually every farm gets power by those power lines. Not many power cables are underground.
Sugestion - add some power line poles next to the farms and in the fields.

https://www.google.lt/maps/@63.94341,-2 ... !2e0?hl=en
11. Roads to farms. Every farm has road to the main road. In this street view there are 1 farm road on each side of the main road.
Sugestion - add some single lane gravel/asphalt roads in the fields.

https://www.google.lt/maps/@63.943523,- ... !2e0?hl=en
12. New asphalt. New asphalt has been putted on the road. This could add some realism to the road it self. After all we - truck drivers spend a lot of time looking at it. :)
Sugestion - use different looking roads.

https://www.google.lt/maps/@63.942692,- ... !2e0?hl=en
https://www.google.lt/maps/@63.930304,- ... !2e0?hl=en
13. Rivers. There are 2 rivers on the way from Sellfoss to Hella. This would change a scenary and would make it more alive.
Sugestion - add both of them.

https://www.google.lt/maps/@63.931109,- ... !2e0?hl=en
14. Grills on the road. Such grills are there to protect sheep from entering area. Usually such grills are added close to the cities or where farmlands are endind to make sure sheep won't exit those areas using roads (would be quite difficult to drive if they would put fence over the road :) ).
Sugestion - I know there is no such model for you to use but if someone of promods team members could make this it would be awesome addition to Icelandic roads. Please note that there are quite many of these road grills all around Iceland so you could use it in many places.

These are my sugestions. Don't take it as To Do List. I just want to help you to make Iceland the best part of Promods.

Keep up amazing work Purno. If you need any help I will be more then happy to help you.

Hey Purno,

It looks great but 1 thing is really wrong, those islands in the middle of the roads when there is a junction.
The signs say that you are allowed to pass on both side, well I have never seen a traffic island where you are allowed to pass on the right AND the left. So, or remove the traffic islands or use signs where you are only allowed to pass on the right.

That's some useful background info there. I'll see what I can use :)

Yeah, those are just place-holder signs. I don't have the correct sign yet. There's some signs on the to-do list but the team is pretty busy with getting the map (not Iceland!) ready for the next ETS2 update. Once these signs are made, I'll replace the current place-holder signs :)

I actually think that grills could be used in many places in the map, just every mountain road through pastures should have one.

Those "grills" are called "cattle guards" here in the U.S. However, without a fence on both sides, the cattle (or other livestock) will simply make a detour around either end...

I haven't seen cattle grid models yet.

As an status update, I've updated my progress map;
https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit? ... s1TQJvMSic

I'm not competely satisfied with certain roads in Reykjavík yet, but will work on them later. As you can see, the road between Reykjavík and Vík is done, as well as the road between Höfn and Seyðisfjörður. My main priority ATM is to connect these two parts by making route 1 between Vík and Höfn.

Once Reykjavík is connected to Seyðisfjörður, it's theoretically possible to release Iceland in parts, should the team decide to do so.

Next things on my to-do list are;
  • Finishing the southern coast compeletely by making Keflavík.
  • Making the northern route including Akureyri.
  • Making the inner route by building route F26 and F208.
  • Expanding Iceland by making Ísafjörður and Ólafsvík (lowest priority ATM).

My opinion is to finish Iceland and not to be released in parts because is better to have the full country
Even if you will finish it in december doesn't matter ;)
Almost half of the country is done which is impressive , good job

Great news that it will possibly be released, just in parts at first. I like the sound of that, but do you think it can reach the deadline for the 1.7 version?
