... And I thought there's no way Germany have problems like those...

But yeah, better stay true to reality. If anything, would be a good delivery site. ;)

It was built by East Germany. West German autobahns are better.

According to a report by German Television they will dismantle one carriageway and erect an emergency bridge made out of steel-segments (@Luxembourgers: what you had at the Pont Adolphe) - after that they will reconstruct the other carriageway, switch traffic over there, dismantle the steel bridge and redo the other carriageway. They are pretty hazy about the time element, however the steel bridge should be operational late this year. And don't blame the East Germans - it was built from 1992 onwards as one of the "German Unity projects". If you read German here's the article https://www.zdf.de/nachrichten/heute/au ... e-100.html

Absolutely wrong. This part of the A20 was opent in August 2005, 15 years after the fall of East Germany.

ENG: A week ago, I was there and there I saw the full extent of this "accident". The german police redirects the whole traffic through small villages and across the fields. Everywhere is a speed limit of 30 kph and a lot of speed cameras. They declared the small roads to one way streets, so that the traffic can drive halfway easily.

PS: here is a link for a PNG of the detour:

An Ikea opened in Kaiserslautern last year. Directly at the cross Kaiserslautern West, at the Opelkreisel near the B270, which leads across the Palatinate Forest.
