Superdavecan wrote:Indeed, Belgium needs to be re-worked! A list of things that I'd like to see improved, whenever you get to Belgium... (I just find it easier to list them, makes it easier to read too ;)
- the R0 ring road around Brussels needs to be fixed so that it's no longer a straight line... SCS really didn't do a good job with this part
- would be nice to include Antwerp if you can make it fit, and I saw that you're interested in doing that too, but since they're so close to each other that might be a challenge.
- A proper E40 motorway connection west of Brussels, going all the way to Calais, France. Perhaps that country road on the base map could be deleted and replaced with the E40. I really think this is a necessary change.
- From Lille, France, it would also be nice to have the E429 going east to connect with the R0 ring road around Brussels. If Antwerp gets made then there should also be the E17 going down to Lille, with a proper connection with the E15 in France
- If Antwerp won't fit, perhaps Gent could be a possible alternative?
- Bilingual signs in Brussels. (Or, to be ultra-realistic, no directional signs in Brussels  ) As French is the dominant language there, it goes first French, then Dutch. So you would have Liège - Luik for sure, and if you made Antwerp you would have Anvers - Antwerpen, etc. Outside of Brussels the signs should be only in French or only in Dutch depending on the area.
- Since French is the dominant language spoken in Brussels by far (80% French, 20% Dutch), perhaps the name of the city in the game should be changed from Brussel to Bruxelles? (Although both names are actually correct)

Those are my thoughts, anyway... on the base map Wallonia (the French-speaking area) isn't too bad, but Brussels and the Dutch-speaking area are appalling and these changes would be very welcome!
After reading this again, I saw you made a mistake about the language around Brussels. As you can see I live in Belgium, in Antwerp. And as we come from, for example, Charleroi Airport we have to pass Brussels. The signs in the Brussels Capital Region are indeed bilingual but wich language is first depents on the city. If its a city form wallonia it's first in French, for example: Liège-Luik or Mons-Bergen. If it's a flemish city it's first in Dutch, for example: Antwerpen-Anvers, Gent-Gand, Leuven-Louvain,.... The signs to the airport of Brussels are first in French, then in Dutch (just to make it complicated :D ) So it becoms: Bruxelles National-Brussel Nationaal! You can see it on streetview:

The signs to cities in France are bit complicated. When you're in Brussels it says: Paris-Parijs or Lille-Rijsel. When you're in Wallonia it just says Paris or Lille. In Flanders they do it difficult. then it's Parijs (Paris) or Rijsel (Lille). https://www.google.be/maps/preview?hl=n ... !2e0&fid=5

It's the same with German cities in Flanders: Aken (Aachen). https://www.google.be/maps/preview?hl=n ... !2e0&fid=5

In Wallonia the don't really now wath they want! :) Sometimes they translate the German cities, sometimes not. They say Trèves (wich is Trier) but they also say Aachen ( the French name is Aix-la-Chapelle). https://www.google.be/maps/preview?hl=n ... !2e0&fid=5

Oh en there is an exeption: the Germans speaking community: There the signs are in French and German. for example: Lüttich-Liège. The German cities are only in German and not in French. https://www.google.be/maps/preview?hl=n ... !2e0&fid=5

Hi there,

I read on your facebook page you were focusing on Belgium for 1.7 so I thought there couldn't be a better time for a small suggestion.

This thing has been bothering me ever since the game release : there is a very distinctive structure at the border between France and Belgium, in an area called Hensies. It's on the E19, A2(FR)-A7(BE).

Another nice pic :

It's a very tall geometrical "work of art" made of concrete which sits in the middle of the highway to mark the border. It's not a pretty sight but I've always felt it looks very iconic, kind of like a soviet type of monument.
Given its shape It should be an easy object to model and implement I guess. Scaling it right might be tricky though.

I instantly felt it was missing when ETS2 came out and I first drove through that area, especially since the whole resting area is right where it should be.
While looking for pictures I found out that the customs post was set to be rebuilt soon, they might add a gas station also.
Although the place is completely desolate it's an unmistakable landmark to me, and since there are not that many in that part of the map I felt it made a good suggestion.
I hope you'll consider it, it's a quick and easy landmark to add compared to all the incredible work you've accomplished so far.

Thank you for your superb modding guys, your attention to detail always puts a smile on my face whenever I catch something new. I've been using your mod only since 1.6 but I'm never letting it go now, this is by far the best map out there.
