How to avoid this god forsaken crash when zooming the map, without using background mods?

Hi guys,

I use ProMods and RusMap. Very often my game crashes when I zoom the map. I know about some background mods, but is there a way not to install those, and avoid constant crashing, perhaps through some more subtle values in map_data file? I don't want to use all these backgrounds, because they all have very large .dds files inside, and I don't want to use such mods.

Thank you for your reply dear Josh0. So this will decrease the quality of intersections etc. when zooming the map, but we gain no crashes instead?
