I use zmodeler only.

Mandelsoft uses Blender mainly, sometimes Zmodeler if he has a license running.

Stupid off-topic question.
What file format 3d games use models? Are there alternatives for zModeller and Blender since I find them quite difficult to learn. Maybe we could export model from SketchUp (to specific modeller and reconvert model) and but in game in required format?
I tried Blender long time ago and it seemed difficult.

Sketchup projects often export with to many materials. It's a pain in the ass to get it converted right.

3D modelling isn't easy that is why you have CAD specialists ;)

I actually hate to use ZModeler, the tools are counter-intuitive. I avoid it when I don't have to model with it. But it's the only way I can make new prefabs right now, though, it doesn't behave consistently. So I have deactivated my license for that. Blender is easier than that, though it has a steep learning curve. You really need to practice and experiment with it. Reading instructions and tutorials is helpful too.

As for Sketchup, it's actually a very crude modeling tool and it doesn't create models in the right format to use; even if you can convert the model format, you easily end up with a too high-poly model and improper UV-mapping. This is why we rarely use Sketchup Warehouse models. The ones we used can be counted on the fingers of two hands.

Best,
MandelSoft

Each tool has it's drawbacks sadly. It's everyone's personal choice as to what will they use. But now, back on topic ;)

No love for 3ds Max? Seems to be popular among the GTA modders ;)

It's good for GTA,but it good for ETS2 modders? They have huge difference. They use Blender or other tools if for them easier. For one Blender is too hard, but with other tools are easier.

3DSMax doesn't have a direct export ;)

If I could get it working on my PC I would use it for sure since it has texture baking making it possible to get sketchup data into ETS2 ;)
