I am experiencing crashes all over the map. This particular incident occurred in Iceland, west of Akureyri. Only mods installed are ProMods.

Game.log is here:

Code: Select all

00:00:00.000 : [mem] physical total: 4096M
00:00:00.000 : [mem] physical avail: 4096M
00:00:00.000 : [mem] virtual total: 524288M
00:00:00.000 : [mem] virtual avail: 524288M
The game appears to think it's got your machine's entire memory to itself, so memory conflicts are inevitable. Check whether it also does this with an unmodded profile and, if so, report it on the SCS forums.

It does not happen on an unmodded profile. The vanilla game runs great. I only have problems with ProMods. A game.log from a vanilla session has the same mem lines as above, but the game runs with no issues.

Well, yeah, that's a problem, regardless of the unmodded game not crashing. The fact the vanilla game doesn't crash is a fluke due to the fact the SCS content is optimised to a point which modders can't acchieve.
Again: this is something which has to be brought to the attention of SCS. The game is not correctly detecting memory utilisation on OS X and therefore may crash at any moment, modified or not.

I think it is related to OpenGL. Since 1.17.0.31 I can't drive 10 minutes without crashing on Linux either. The logs are filled with errors (some the same as here, but also others). However, no error for the crash itself as it just returns to desktop.

I did some experimenting. The crashes are almost reproducible. Restarting and driving the same route again leads to a crash in the exact same place. However, if you save just before the crash point and load it in a fresh start, you can continue until it finds another point to crash. I think I found about 10 of those points from the bridge north of Goteborg to the ferry in Goteborg. My guess is that it has to do with the OpenGL engine not being able to handle certain combinations of errors.

Could someone give the OpenGL version a go on Windows and see if that gives a similar result?

The memory thing is probably nothing. This is likely a side effect of memory management being very different on Unix.

OpenGL has a load issues with this mod (i.e. textures and block text in the jobs screen). This is a great, albeit unusable, map for me. Hopefully these issues can be resolved in the future, but until then, I will be enjoying other map mods.

The gfx bugs I could live with because it's not that big a deal to reselect your profile when things get messed up. But these crashes make it unplayable indeed. Unfortunate because I was on a mission to get all the roads ahead of the Scandinavia DLC launch.
