Rovaniemi is exactly on the arctic circle, well actually a few kilometres (less than 10) south of it, but that is not really a difference... Problem is that there are not any major settlements between Jyväskylä and Oulu. The E4 road between Oulu and Jyväskylä is basically just nothing but forest, more lakes can be seen when closer to Jyväskylä but nothing else. Finland really is that scarse populated. There's some little villages here and there but not even remotely large settelements. From Jyväskylä, Kajaani (relatively small town) is via different route, you have to drive via Kuopio to get there.MYE2001 wrote:I noticed that a city in a bit north of Jyvaskyla could be good.There is a little emptiness in there.
It must be the biggest place between Jyväskylä and oulu, when you come from jyväskylä on 4E road there really is just small places like, pihtipudas, kärsämäki etcetc.
