A little update on the French map. As some of you may know, I'm in charge of creating the tourist signs we can see on French highways. The ultimate goal is to get as many signs as possible. So far I'm working in the southwest region, around Bordeaux (where I live) and Toulouse (which is being made). You can have a rough preview of my work here :

Image

Highways in green have their signs created and are ready to be implemented in the game. As for the ones in blue, I searched on Google Maps all the existing tourist signs - which is a really long job, because it requires going through Google Street View and locate all the different signs. To sum things up, every signs South of Poitiers and Limoges are located. The second part of the job, creating the signs, takes as much time. Some designs are easy to make, some aren't. Plus I have problems with two highways: image quality is abysmal between Bordeaux and Clermont-Ferrand, and signs between Vierzon (South of Paris) and Limoges are being removed in real life because of copyright signs. As a consequence, I create a few signs with custom designs, just like this one, representing the different products you can find around Brive area :

For those who like real life comparisons, here's a sign you can find between Bordeaux and Bayonne. Initial quality wasn't great but I did the best I could to make it :

Last but not least, I also tried to create signs for French departments. It's a subdivision Inside regions, a bit like counties Inside provinces/states. Signs have the same design as the region ones, so they are easy to be made. Kutchek has to put some on a map to see if highways won't be too crowded with signs, so it is not 100% sure you will find them on the final map. However, here's a little preview of what I've done :

I'll do my best to make as many signs as possible before the next Promods release. I hope you'll enjoy driving though the French roads and learn a little more about this country while looking at these signs. :)

Hey,

now you're reworking the France Mod: could you throw in a simple parking lot or Petrol station somewhere between Pau and Dijon? I recently took a freight from the one to the other and i ran out of my working time, causing me to doze in before reaching Dijon... ;-)
