Just alter the time using the console, that's what I do when catching the next ferry.

Press ` key and type: g_set_time nn (value from 1 till 24)

E.G:
g_set_time 20 will set the time to 20:00

Obviously if the ferry leaves at 0515 you'll have to make do with 0500 :) it's handy for taking 11 or 9 hour rests too

That's brilliant guys, I completely forgot about console commands! I remember also wondering how it might be possible to make the ferry sailing times more realistic... well, I'll try this! :D

Just remember to change the time before you get on the ferry or you'll lose driving time on the other side.

I was just watching Squirrel's video that he uploaded yesterday https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHb36GuBvuk, in which we see a preview of the Scandinavia DLC. It's beautiful, by the way! :D Anyway just after 13:00 in the video, Pavel Sebor was commenting that there are actually too many ferry routes, and as a result it's possible to abuse that functionality and just teleport from place to place in order to deliver the cargo quickly... and this leads to just sailing everywhere and not properly exploring all the roads that they worked so hard to build! So it seems that SCS is actually considering putting in scheduled ferry times, so that they only go at specific times. :)

He said that it would also be a bit of a challenge with the planning... but that it might even be possible to make it so that if you have to wait for your ferry, you might actually end up being late with the cargo... a bit more realistic :)

I definitely would love to see scheduled ferry times though... although you can adjust the time with console commands, it's even better if SCS wants to implement this as one of the features of the game. Because it's a bit silly how you can turn up at the ferry terminal at any time, and sail immediately. :P And if there are too many ferry crossings, indeed it becomes like Euro Ferry Simulator... I would support removing crossings that no longer exist in real life (such as Bergen-Newcastle). I would also support removing crossings that exist in real life but that would not be strictly necessary in the game.
