Game pauses for about a second every minute or so

I love this mod and driving across the barren stretches of Iceland at night in a DK2 is an amazing experience. Every minute or so, though, the game pauses for about a second then carries on. I can still look around during that time but only the stuff that was in view at the time the pause started is visible. It's not a deal breaker but it is kind of annoying. I've temporarily disabled Promods and I still get a pause every now and then but it lasts a fraction of a second.

Is there anything I can do to remove/reduce this delay?

I'm running v1.95 of ProMods on v1.18.1.21s (64bit) of ETS2 and I'm using Oculus Runtime 6.0.1 on Win7 (64bit)

The pause is caused whenever the game performs an "autosave." The only way to mitigate this pause is to either reduce the demands (lower settings) or a faster processor and/or using an SSD instead of a physical hard drive.

I've moved my profile to my SSD using -homedir. I can't test it at the moment though because my DK2's gone screwy so I can't drive anywhere without hitting stuff.

edit - just drove across Germany without any pauses at all. Looking good!
