Upgrading your processor in that case would be throwing money in the trash. The performance difference is so small between the two, you won't notice it when playing. For the cost of the 4790K + motherboard you could have gotten a 980ti instead of 970, with the 980 ti outperforming the 970. Still this is not really necessary unless you're playing in really high resolutions, like 4K.
Save your money, with a 970 you'll be set for sure.
