I was just looking on here for this very reason, I block ad-ware and then AdFly serves a popup that's like 'please click here to support us as you're using an ad blocker'.
So me being 'well fine, people get money for it' so I clicked it.
MALWARE!
Promods really needs to stop using dodgy hosting and redirection sites. It doesn't matter that 'promods doesn't own/host adfly', if it's malicious you should not keep using it.
There's a lot of little kids playing truck sim (just listen to the multiplayer cb radio) who are not as keen on avoiding that crap than more seasoned computer users.
So you just went ahead and clicked on something that popped up from a known advertising vendor. You have to be pretty naive to do that though, just click on something that pops up and says "click on me" and gives you any sketchy reason as to why you should click it. People don't make money off you clicking their buttons, they make money off serving you advertising, if they can inject a transmitter or beacon onto your machine to generate those ads they will probably do that so you see more ads and generate more money for them.
Again, I've said this before, Promods has nothing to do with AdFly, The file hosting site Zippyshare uses their software to generate revenue to keep their site running as they probably don't get enough money from donations alone to pay for keeping the site running and serving the public domain. Promods cannot simply demand that Zippyshare not use it, they are looking after their own interests. What AdFly does is their own agenda they may be open to using any means to accrue the revenue their clients need, though legally its likely that the only thing they agreed to in a contract is a method to acquire money not on what means AdFly uses to get that money.
Finally, get some protection and not just some cheap free bee solution that is offered around the web, use some real security like Trend-Micro, Kaspersky, or Bit Defender. Then back it up with some add-ons to your browser. There are many many types of add-ons that can protect you from not only the ads so you don't even see them to settings for what is allowed in the script of web-pages when you load up the site. If you are worried about your kids on these sites, then the best thing you can do is to get protected from everything you can. You might not like how these sites get their revenue, though almost every site has to use advertising to support their services if they cannot get enough money from more direct sources.

1. We're not using Zippyshare, so no idea what's your point about it here Callipso. We just need some money to keep our servers running.
2. It's obvious - when you see a popup, you just don't click it. Come on. And we have to use adf.ly, all other services of this kind are worse...

I installed Ublock, Adblock and Popup blocker and tried to download one file and I didn't have problems. Before that, my antivirus have notified me about malwere popup frequently last week or two. Now, nothing.

I have several adblockers in all my browsers but can not get oast the "We detect that you are using adblocker please disable it to be able to download this file"
It really does not go past that unless i disbale the whole chabang.

I choose to use the paid download cause -not sure why or what happened- (and yes i do use internet security and bunch of adblockers and other stuff to keep browsing as pleasant as possible) after i tried to pass it without disabling it i still got a malware installe dwithout my approval or whatsoever only by clicking continue (there was nothing else to click) and it crashed my PC, did look at it bright side i could reinstall and had clean windows again  sometimes ad.fly really doesnt allow to pass with adblockers on. I do notthink chrome was the fault to let it install something cause I did not use chrome at that time when it happened.

But if people have so many issues with adfly and using it even with adblockers etc, there is always an option (yeah yeah start whining) to pay for the download, I do not have lots to spare but the less then 1 euro to have a problemfree download, well then i guess I have to smoke less to have not the hassle with it.

But why isnt mega for instance not an option? Just thinking outloud and not saying you have to change where you host.
I am sure if there would be other choice that you will use it.

MEGA dies under heavy load, so it's bad idea + we'd have to buy a very expensive account to allow you all to download PM.
We were using Zippyshare and that was fine until some Polish players started to take down our links for some dumb reason. That's why we had to set up our own download servers but we have to limit the speed, so everything doesn't blow up...

I hadn't notice we changed to our own download service, the last time I checked we were still using Zippyshare. The point is the same sites use the advertising to bring in revenue to support keeping the server running.

Oh, adfly ad money comes to PM. :/ Well, I use that only to test that user dl works anyway.
How about paylink 1$, does it go to PM for server, as Amazon is no longer used and is it enough?

Paid link is hosted on a 3rd party service which can offer fast download speed.

Every ad shown there is based on what you've been browsing lately.
That's actually a myth. I get adds about casino's and football all the time while neither of them interest me in the slightest. It just tries to bombard the largest base of people with ads it can, that's what it is designed to do.

To be honest it's what you can expect from clicking the free option, if somebody doesn't like adfly, then link your paypal with your account and you can enjoy every update for the price of what? Less than a beer on a terrace?

Guess that depends on where you are :)
Here you'd get a couple of mouth-fulls at most for 1€ :P
