I just really hate the layout of windows 8. I didn't know windows 8 improved system resources or increased the performance of games by that much. I mostly play ets2 (with promods of course) and FSX. Yes I love my sims lol. I'm not really sure what windows 8 would do for FSX. Does anyone know what gains a person would get? FSX is a very CPU bound sim.

I'll probably take the free upgrade to windows 10 for the directx 12 support. I do have a GTX 970 which runs beautifully.

Windows 8 and 8.1 may be better optimised and I admit it has some pretty good features, but still...

[rant]
I f*****g hate the ***** guru who said "the future are tablets, mouse and keyboard are dead!" and designed that b******y interface "Metro" system is. Why did you scrap Start menu? Why does my laptop assume I have a touch screen when I don't?
[/rant]

Now, it seems that for each good OS Microsoft releases (3.1, 98, XP, 7) they do a crappy one (95, Me, Vista, 8). I hope that 10 will be good. I'll upgrade ASAP.

Also, for those who miss Start menu in Windows 8, let me give a hint: "Start Menu 8"

Windows 8.1 for me is a huge improvement over Windows 8. I will try Windows 10 when it's released as I expect it'll probably be better, though.

Windows 8 and 8.1 is UTTER RUBBISH! Windows 10 seems to be better but they haven't redeemed themselves after the worst thing ever thought of/invented in human history. Certainly in Microsoft's history at least. And the fact that they want to kill the normal computer and enhance the tablet:

1. You can't play any good games (ETS2, FSX, SpinTires, The Long Dark, FS15 etc.) on a tablet
2. If they want to enhance it, their problem but they've interfered with the concept of the computer which is absolutely POINTLESS!!!

I'm not the only one who absolutely hates Windows 8. The majority of the world hates it too according to numerous researches and Microsoft admit it that it was a complete failure (that's why they've released Windows 10 so quickly and for free; otherwise why would they do that?). The best device personally to use Windows 8 is on phones, although other better places include on walls, rubbish bins and toilets. That's why if I were to choose an OS for a tablet, either Android or iOS, although Android tablets are more and cheaper than iOS tablets.

@jontsuba: I COMPLETELY AGREE with his rant about Mr. Everything-in-the-world-works-with-either-touchscreen-or-nothing. He should be sacked but this being Microsoft...

Conclusion: Turn the time 5 years ago and Microsoft was a proper company, whose products made sense to the known world. Windows 7 and Office 2010 were excellent products, very useful and a joy to use... Now on the other hand, Microsoft are so stubborn about their "fancy" coloured building bricks of theirs and, with Mr. Everything-in-the-world-works-with-either-touchscreen-or-nothing employed, Microsoft has started to create a bad impression towards the known world.

Windows 7 is love, Windows 7 is life!

I got my laptop in August 2013 with Windows 8 preinstalled. It was kinda weird at the beginning because I was used to Win xp from my old pc and Win 7 at school. But some time later Win 8.1 was released bringing some new features and improvements. I found a program that revived the start menu and I found out how to avoid the start screen when turning on the pc. (for those who don't know: right click on the task bar => properties => navigation) There are some shitty things like the new mail program and attachment system and other stuff in the tablet style, but all in all I like Win 8.1 better than 7 now, because it firstly just looks better imo and secondly because of the new features like onedrive f.e.

I've been using this myself and I have to say that Windows 8 without Start Menu 8 (or a similar program) is totally rubbish, but with the program the only difference in Windows 8 and Windows 7 are the textures. Thus Windows 8 is more performance friendly. Also I have to agree with you guys that the Metro menu system is just rubbish.

At least you guys are using a supported system which is very good for everyone, but for people still using Windows XP

Well, using in 2015 a OS released in 2001 (albeit one of the greatest ever created) is like using 1987-released-Windows 2.0 back when XP appeared...
