In contrast to before, I no longer do job trips, but drive at my own discretion - in good German, the nose long.

Yeah, whenever I'm touring an area, there's rarely a job available which is exactly where I want to go, so I always end up taking 'whatever' and cancelling the job at the destination. It would be great if you could select any starting point and any destination, providing a logical destination exists in the target city. Very often it does. So a proper job trip is rare for me too. That's what employees are for - to make money to pay for your cancelled jobs
