Da Stig ... exploring ProMods & Skinning work

This week I intended to make a new skin, based on an existing truck. All the other skins, and those you find in mods are made using 2048x2048 .dds files. This one I made with a bigger size of 4096x4096. And you can definitely see it in the details when zooming in on the truck.

I need to warn you for my upcoming screenshots. I'm working on this skin to make it fit the 50k Scania R. I should get it ready by this weekend, if I got the time to work on it.

Very nice pictures.

I just wonder how people can manage to get such beautiful graphics in ETS2..
I have a computer that can easily run this game on the highest settings, yet I don't have graphics like this.

Good graphics and screenshot takes some practice. I'm gonna reveal a secret here. I'm running this game on an older laptop Acer Aspire 7750, with an i5 processor and 6Gb of RAM, using Win7 Home 64bits.

ETS2 runs just fine in ultra graphics mode. Only in the very detailed areas the framerate goes down. But that's because the developers of promods put so much detail and work in their map ... ... no offence guys ... I'm to blame trying to run the game on such an old laptop.

Hey,

Here's what happened so far this week ...

Making a skin for someone else ... for a UK fun fair company called E.Danter & Sons ...

I got a new job to do, so I fueled up my 50k Scania, and took off to Bauhaus to pick up my trailer.

Already dark when I arrived at Bauhaus ...



It took me quite a while driving from Kalmar all the way back to Lille ... but I'm almost there ...



My Blue Eagle was the perfect truck for the journey


Back at Antwerp harbor, I took both my "Blue Eagle's" to the docks for a photoshoot ... I love those trucks


I wasn't fully satisfied with the look of the front of the 50k, so I did some more skinning.
Before ...

After ... I removed the blue line below the front window, and added some blue in the grill ... looks much better IMHO
