FF2: Filling in the Suburbs
Spent the night at the jobsite. Left the windows open, and woke up bitten all over by moskies. Oh well. Still a beautiful sunrise.
Let's check out some more of Crescent while on the way to the opposite forest jobsite.
Harrison Ford again?
Harrison Ford again?
I love picking up cargoes from forests...
Back to civilization.
North towards Bend.
Bend. Zipping right through without stopping this time.
Heading towards The Dalles now.
What a gorge-eous view.
It's our last chance to stop Godzilla!
That's it for now.
Dan
Today we're still on the way to The Dalles through more stunning landscapes.
Evidently.
Farmland as we approach the city.
The Dalles.
Cargo dropped off, it's time to head to Medford one last time.
Farewell to The Dalles.
Just a few more Medford views.
It's late October, so I thought we could celebrate with this Guardians of the Galaxy paintjob.
Enough faffing around in Medford - let's go and pick up some new cargo...
...from AMISH FURNITURE.
Heading out of town past the local funfair, destination Salem via Eugene.
Done for today

Thanks Bernhard. Oregon is a beautiful part of the ATS map.
We've just left Medford on our journey up to Portland. Our first destination is a large and elaborate rest stop at a place called Canyonville.
Canyonville to the right, rest stop on the left.
7 Features? In reality it's called 7 Feathers Casino Resort. I guess Features is pretty close to Feathers, but as a casino name it doesn't really ring true, does it. Still, everything else is very similar, including the eagle statue.
That's quite some truck park.
A bunch of other trucks followed me up, so I chased them around.
Fun fun fun. Who needs multiplayer, eh?
Getting into the spirit of things, I parked up next to them and got out for a bit of a chinwag with the other drivers. The first thing they asked me was how long I was parked up for. When I said I was just going to get a takeaway burger and continue, they all started getting out plastic chairs and placing them right in front of my truck like they were expecting to see something entertaining. It didn't take long for me to work out why.
Still, they were sadly disappointed, for I have mastered the art of 0 followed by ctrl + F9.
So... ...I should bypass... ...which lane... ...when weighing... ...what? Does not compute. After a short period of chin-stroking and brow-furrowing I decided to plump for the 'when weighing' lane.
Approaching Eugene. We need to deliver that Amish Furniture somewhere.
Surprised by a sudden downpour while en route to the dropoff point.
And it's here that we made our delivery. Fine Amish Furniture for Georgia-Pacific's new admin center.
Spent the night in G-P's car park. The wind must have changed during the night, as at around 3 a.m. my nose was suddenly assailed by such a terrible stench that it clean woke me up. If you look carefully behind that car in the sunset shot above you can see the origin. What on earth possessed me to park for the night next to G-Ps sewage flocculation tank I do not know.
I was still awake when the sun came up, and got this nice image.
In Eugene, on the way to pick up a container of oaken wine barrels to be taken just a short way north to a Salem vineyard.
Heading out of Eugene.
Still heading out of Eugene.
Albany airfield.
And we've reached Salem. Next time - wine from Salem to Portland.

Rain hit once again when traversing Salem. Getting through it was quite a TRIAL.
Alright, alright, I know this isn't Salem, Massachussets. Perhaps in 2030?
You can overwater plants, you know!
Hello, distant cousins!
Spent the rest of the day and evening doing some agrotourism. Viniculture is a fascinating field, and I was keen to learn more.
Another demanding morning followed.
Hauling with a headache.
It's just a short hop to the swanky restaurants and hip bars of Portland from Salem. But first we'll tour the town a little more.
Sports ground. Would be cool to see some animated players.
Still checking out Salem.
Does have a bit of a witchy feel though, doesn't it? Sure it does. Actually, I had a go at The Crucible once.
It was heavy going at first, but then I got hooked and ended up reading it from coven to coven.
Winnie the Witch! Winnie Bago, of Salem.... Oregon.
Okay, time to take flight for Portland.
Are we there yet? Yes, we are. More gratuitous quantities of bridges and skyscrapers coming up.
My name's Groot.
Portland, being the capital, had to go one better than The Dalles.
Okay, time to deliver that wine.
Random tram near the delivery point.
And it's farewell to Portland. One more northward journey to go, and we'll be at the end of this tour.
Cheers
Dan
Okay, just a COUPLE more from Portland before we head back to Medford...
Bye bye Groot.
And we're back in Medford after another change of skin.
The last great northward journey will take us up the coast... but not today.
Today we're heading south, to California. The forest scenery is amazing.
First we need a cargo.
Just picking it up is a journey in itself.
Got it. My beloved logs.
Heading out by a different route.
It's still early morning.
And now we're crossing the border to California. For the last time for many years, no doubt.
One of those new-fangled agricultural stations that SCS introduced. It brings a whole new level of gameplay to the table. I've never pressed enter and then waited briefly at an agricultural station before.
Formalities over, we're heading south into the deep forests of North California.
Those Native Americans just keep on churning out the statuary, it would seem.
Impressive redwoods.
Feel like a Tyrannosaurus is about to come bursting out of the foliage...
Back into Oregon for a coastal drive in the next set.

Setting off on our last northward journey in Oregon today, along the Pacific coast. It's a beautiful drive.
Route 101... still in California right now.
It's the ocean, at last.
Another agricultural station - but we don't have to stop there as we're heading out of California.
Back in Oregon again.
SCS make some great scenery, but coastal areas are sometimes a bit sketchy... I guess because these regions are not so common, SCS see it as less important to try to create blended shorelines and realistic waves. Still, it's great to see the ocean.
Today we're heading up to Coos Bay, the last place we haven't visited in Oregon.
Loving this scenery.
Rest stop and viewpoint.
Lost sight of the ocean for a while. Shame.
Another rest stop with a spectacular view.
Getting close to Coos Bay.
We've arrived.
Time to drop off the logs. We'll explore the city next time.
See ya!

Hey Bernhard - new profile? Cat goddess.... cool : )
Today we're continuing up the coast of Oregon on Route 101.
Let's start off with a look at Coos Bay.
I thought it was just another coastal town...
...with factories...
...and a marina...
...and some cool custom buildings...
but it also had...
a god-darn ONE WAY system.
It was somewhat annoying when we were driving around searching for photogenic spots. But a nice detail, I like it.
Anyway, after exploring it was time to pick up another cargo.
And soon we were off up to Newport with some prefab house parts. Well, I think that's what they are.
Fancy bridges they have in these parts.
More coast-hugging shenanigans coming up.
Well hi there.
Closing in on Newport.
Here we are.
What can I say. Oregon has been great, well worth the wait.
One more set to go - Newport to Astoria.
See ya later!

Back again for one final journey in Oregon.
Let's kick off with a few more views from Newport.
Eeeek! It's..... Nessie. A different Nessie from the Scottish one, I guess.
Yet another huge, skyline-dominating bridge.
Our last job in the USA for a while is for Walmart. Superb.
Heading up to the bridge.
Getting out of Newport.
It's a short hop up the coast to Pacific City.
There already.
I can SMELL that trash, it looks so real.
Oops.
This place looks way cool.
Alright, last stretch to go, up to Astoria.
And that's it for coastal route 101 until we get round to Washington State. In about 18 months, maybe, I hope.
Outskirts of Astoria.
Walmart. It's time to head back to Europe, where the next tour will be.... France.
Thanks for viewing!
