Well, first, you had European Truck Simulator 1, which, from apparent YouTube footage, is not the game I remember it to be (which is slightly worrying, because I played it a crap ton and don't remember it as an European version of "18WOS, Pedal to the Metal accross America" as it appears on YouTube). Then you had German Truck Simulator and UK Truck Simulator, which were basically the same game, but with a different map (I don't know where the different map scales came from, but it could have been a shift in technical capabilities at the time). And, somehow, all of this merged into the awesomeness which is European Truck Simulator 2 and took off in a way I'm sure the developers never imagined. So now they have this stitched together game, with all of these legacy elements, which they have to take forward, taking all of the stuff the modding community has done for their game in mind. I do not envy their position from a development point of view.LA-MJ wrote:Wasn' t UK a different game originally?

Just for reference, I think the Denmark - UK ferry has been discontinued also, IIRC. If im making a delivery from Norway to anywhere in the UK now, Ill drive down to Holland/France and catch the ferry to the UK there. Daft? Maybe, but its the only real life option we have in game. I don't really mind having these historical/fictitious routes, as long as the real life ones are included also!ScuL wrote:Because the Newcastle-Bergen ferry was taken out of service some time ago.Michael Rosen wrote: Why we must detour to Faroe to deliver a container from Bergen to Sheffield
In real life you have to driven down to Denmark and then take Esbjerg-Harwich

Yes the DFDS passenger line is out of service due to costsAndy_GTI wrote:I think the Denmark - UK ferry has been discontinued also, IIRC
But you should be able to catch one of Torlines RO/RO ferries unless they have changed their policy about lorries and only carry trailers, it's been a decade or more
Obvious it's also a question of timing
