ETS2 crashing when loading Promods

Hello,
I will get right to the point, my ETS2 crashes after installing the latest version of Promods 2.20.
I followed the instructions to the letter, I am not using the Rusmap mod, just the Promods with no other mods enabled.
I am also using ETS 2 Version 1.28 but I am using the VR version of the game for Oculus / HTC Vive on Steam.
The game loads fine to the main menu. As soon as I click "Drive" to start playing and the game goes to load for the first time, it will load about 3/4 of the way then it will crash.
No error is given, apart from Windows detecting that the game has stopped working.
I am running the 64-bit version of the game with the HTC Vive as it seems to work alright.
Promods 1.8 was working fine prior to the update.
I have tried re-installing the mod from scratch, including the def file and it still crashes at the same point.
Computer Specs
CPU: i7 7700k
RAM: 16GB DDR4
GPU: NVIDIA GTX 1080
